Yeah, I like Ska music too. But, I listen to everything. But, you know what? Most people think that Elvis Presley was the original writer of "Hound Dog", and that the Beatles wrote "Twist and shout". Does that mean that the history is true? Rude Boys started in Jamaica, so it's safe to believe that when they went to the UK that whites adopted the life style . Not to offend, but the last I checked the West Indies and Jamaica were Black populated. But, I could be wrong. 😄

It all comes down what you're willing to accept my friend. That's how lies and false histories keep spreading. Today's skinheads are a prime example of that. But, I'm working on my diplomatic abilities. 😄 I'll bump you up to 3 star stunna though! I got your back! Oh, and true history wasn't written by the "Blacks" it's just known by the Blacks. As it always is. 😄 But, not only were the first skinheads Black, I kind of broke it down to it's finest points hoping that you'd understand. But, that's cool, it's still about the music, right? I mean, what kind of music do today's skinheads listen to in the U.K. today? Is there still a Ska movement? Or has it gone back underground? Do they still have place in the UK where the music is still alive and kicking? Or has "House" music supplanted everything now? You could hop on the fast train and take the Chunnel to Amsterdam! At least you can find a good coffee shop that plays good Ska! Lucky bastard! 😉

HaHa! You said "Caps". Elvis was a Cappy! HaHa! I though that was funny!

Yeah, even Prince said that the music industry today is "Packaged" music. Lady GaGa, and all of these other so-called "artists" aren't artists. They are part of the problem of the music industry. But, somebody had to approve that garbage. But, I listen to vinyl and real to reel still. Cee Lo Green seems to be trying to take it back to the way music used to be however.

I almost feel bad for the listeners today, almost. You'd think they would try to find out about the history of music and recognize that the garbage today is fast food for the brain. It's junk. It's nice being in Chicago where live music of all genres is still strong.

this whole story about OJ being beaten in jail is a LIE

I think so too, Dward. I smell a rat trying to stir up some shit, as usual.

It's National Enquirer. They are either really right or really wrong.

Or half true. He might of got his ass beat. But they made sure that the public believed it was "white supremacists" because he was bragging about being with white women. I mean, seems too obvious to me. I smell a rat. I think they are trying to create tension between races. Even if it's true, I'm sure they knew that we'd be talking about Orenthal again. Who the fuck names their kid "Orenthal"? No wonder bruh man ran that fast! He was runnin for his damn life with a name like "Orenthal". Damn!

Hey you know what, even if it is a lie, ('cause you never can tell with the NE) it was still nice to hear other people's thoughts and I learned quite a bit from just reading the post from some of these guys so posting this thread did what I wanted it to do anyway, which was spark intellectual conversation.

Wow, just wow.

For anyone who truly wants to discuss this and has something constructive to say.

"The National Enquirer reported on Tuesday that O.J. Simpson was attacked in the Nevada prison and beaten unconscious . He spent three weeks in the infirmary.

The 63-year-old has reportedly been a "marked man" in prison "ever since white supremacists overheard him brag about his sexual conquests of beautiful white women."

Because people who date and marry interracially say they don't see colour, I do not believe O.J. was bragging about the colour (white) of his sexual conquests. I do believe the attack happened but fars the reason goes, I believe the Enquirer made that up.

Perhaps those who attacked him had issue with the *if the glove don't fit then we must aquit* thing and therefore made it their business to show O.J. what they thought of his acquittal. Why wait so long? Who knows -- we can speculate all day on that.

Point taken. Plenty of folks took issue with the "if the glove don't fit..." Trust if some could have gotten a hold of him the day the "not guilty" verdict was read, he would have met the same fate as Nicole.

Skinheads started from a Reggae clash in the '60's, from the differences of opinions and political views from "Rude Boys" and the "MOD Boys". The style of clothing that they wore then and now came from the West Indies. I wasn't around either, but I do like true history. Most of the information that I got were from "Black" Skinheads while I was in the U.K. Yes, there are still Black Skinheads. Out of that movement formed bands like the Police, The Clash, The Bus Boys, and the entire Ska movement.

Quite interesting, GM.

Yeah, "Hound Dog" was originally written by "Big Momma Thornton", a very talented Blues singer.

This made me think of the Grammys. I consider Cee Lo Greeen to be a real artist and of today's generation, in my opinion, the only thing that was worth watching was the collabo with B.O.B., Bruno Mars and Janelle Monae. They come across as very "smart" musicians, singers, songwriters, etc.

Of the older generation, Mick Jagger and Streisand true artists? Well I guess that goes without saying...

Actually she didn't write it either sweets. It was written by Jerry Lieber (Jewish), produced by Johnny Otis (Latino), and performed first by Big Momma, she put her own brand on the song and made it marketable to cross over. Didn't work, so they found Elvis. Sorry, it's the truth. Elvis took her version and gay'd it up! But, my point was that the origins of all music started in one place. 😉 You kind of see how it all played out in some movies like "Ray" and movies about Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, etc. However, boy bands like the Beatles were specifically trained to be like Black artists in order to market a certain agenda. It worked! Example:

I stand corrected. Damn, I'm so hot for you right now. 😉 Honestly though, I did mean to say she was the first to perform it. My bust.

LOL @ "gay'd it up!"

Like your example of getting even. Clever guy, you. Sigh...so many of our kids NEED to be schooled on the history of music. I find that some of the best artists are the ones who know the truth. Seems like jazz is being lost among this generation (although I never really thought it was one of the more popular genres anyway). I was so happy when Lincoln Center (NYC) incorporated its Jazz program with Wynton Marsalis as Artistic Director. It has a special component called "Jazz for Young People". It's a complete Jazz curriculum that teaches kids the history of Jazz/how to play Jazz, etc, so hopefully all is not lost. Such another wonderfully rich aspect of our culture.

Now don't come back here and tell me that Jazz originated from another group of people because if so, I think that my body will just burst into flames. 😉

Nah, can't say that about Jazz babes. So don't go all inferno! HaHa!! But, it's a topic of much debate. But, speaking of Jazz, enjoy this:

Q-tiiiiiiiipppppppppppppp!!!! I remember this video! Damn, where did the good ole days go, where did they go—!!!!

KRS-One, Grand Master Flash, Doug E. Fresh, Heavy D, Kool Moe Dee, Nice & Smooth, LL, Sugar Hill Gang, Slick Rick ("Ladi Dadi"), Talib Kweli, Public Enemy, Kurtis Blow ("Don't push me 'cause I'm close to the edge...."), Eric B & Rakim, De La Soul, Afrika Bambaattaa, Big Daddy Kane, MC Lyte, EPMD and Boogie Down Productions...uuggghhhh....where did it all go wrong? I can barely listen to this shit on the radio now. I don't care what anyone says, clean can be fun.

Exactly. Clean is....well, clean. Most of those so-called "Gangsters" don't become that way till they get a record deal. Then they have to try and get a "rep". Thus, a lot of them go to prison or do what Ice Cube did and become a movie star. That dude was raised in the Valley. He's not hard, even though he's a pretty clever Gemini, but he's bullshitting. I used to get mistaken for BDK back in the dizay! 😉 I think I look better! He's fat now! HaHa!

It would be so wonderful if many of those cats were around today but, you know how that goes...changing of the times...it's evolution and if you can't evolve, then you can't survive. However, I don't think the rappers of yesteryear could ever fathom the idea of spitting lyrics like those of the rappers of today.

No way I believed Ice T was some gangsta rapper. LOL. I do admire him because he's a saavy business man and has streetsmarts and edge. I knew he was a trickster (damn you Geminis 😉). He wanted to get a slice of the pie and move away from it all, and did just that. He's quite domesticated actually. Him and Coco used to come by my old job all of the time. He's been with her for centuries.

BDK eh? Yeah he is a bit of a chubbster now ain't he. LOL.
