In the spirit of internet forums - I just can't not post this.
Of course I'm trying to be factitious.

The Texas Cattleman's Association reports an average of
5 cattle per year are "deemed" lost to scorpion stings.
There are no stats available to show whether they were laid
upon or the scorpion came upon them while laid prone,
but there is a soft underside of the cloven hoof which
could explain the stings if trod upon.

The number of 5 may be due the fact that there is no warning
...and of course of 10,000 cattle lost per year in the
fine State of Texas, that's 5 scorpions who screwed-up
and got caught and "didn't get away" with it
or died and "struck from the grave" on purpose.
