I was in Cornwall years ago (in UK). I was a vegetarian at the time. My bf and i checked into a guest house and chatted to the owner and mentioned to him that we were vegetarians. He said to us *yes i am too, but i eat fish and chicken sometimes*

lol

Smh. Am I a murderer if I only murder every now and then ? A part time murderer if you will? 🙂

I don't think he murdered anything or anyone ~ unless he had his wife chopped up in the freezer maybe?

lol

meat is murder whether you do it or not.

Do you live in a house? Because if so, you can thank the destruction of the environment and animals' habitat for allowing you the luxury of posting this thread while sprawled out on your sofa.

... this is NOT a factory farm and extreme confinement of animals. rows of rows of animal who cant even turn around, piled on top of each other for maximum profit. animals are sentient beings they are not machines.

No one is advocating this, either.

You're pretending they do, simply because they eat meat-- even when you've been told otherwise.

I guess your argument would fall apart if you didn't, because you won't even acknowledge these statements.

StopFactoryFarms.org encourages exactly what many of the people here already do-- which is buying

locally from independent butchers and/or grocers who support local, not factory, farms.

............................

"Independent grocery stores generally ... directly support their local community or [go] directly to

the farmers or ranchers producing the food....

It's worth the effort to seek them out and explore their offerings.

Many farmers are already rearing animals more humanely and producing cruelty free meat, milk and eggs.

The demand for higher quality meat is being heard by the local farmer. By supporting them, you can

send a message to the farming industry: factory farming is no longer acceptable...."

Alternatives to Factory Farm Meats

....................................

The truth is that if factory farms were eliminated and local farmers/humane production became the

norm-- you would destroy them, too.

Famous Vegan Admits She's Suffering From an Eating Disorder

... veganism was not actually nourishing and healthy; it was a full-blown eating disorder known as

"orthorexia," or an obsession with eating righteously.

After feeling miserable for months, she shame-dabbled in pescetarianism, which led to this paragraph,

perhaps the strangest I've read all week:

[...] she went to one of her favorite macrobiotic restaurants and forced herself to order wild

salmon — her first piece of fish in 18 months. "I brought it home and ate it all alone, so no one

could see me," she says. Two days later, her period returned.

[For some reason, I imagine her period showing up haggard at her door with a red hobo bindle and a several days old

beard, exhausted but humbly apologetic. You're home! she says, throwing her arms around his filthy neck. Period can only

cry with gratitude and relief.]

After a dietary change clearly established that veganism was making her feel like crap, she decided to formally announce

her transition from "The Blonde Vegan" to "The Balanced Blonde."

............

omg that's funny. 😄

You know most cosmetic products are tested on animals. Scratch that not only cosmetic products. I'll spare you of the intricate details if you don't know already.

But I will leave a page about it here. I want to take a stab but honestly I cbf. I will just add to the list of stuff people should be aware about.

Animal testing is the blackest crime on the planet. It bothers me WAY more than factory farming. I would have no problem seeing vivisectors killed ond by one.

The self-righteousness and hypocrisy here is astounding. People calling others murderers for eating animal products, when most every damn modern commodity you enjoy came at the expense of harming the environment.

We all leave a footprint, don't pretend you're above that.

And not everyone has the luxury to live on a diverse diet of organic veggies, quinoa and exotic fruit supplemented by vegan source omega 3 oil and B vitamins.

Sorry that offends you.

That pic is horrible, But i buy free range eggs laid by hens living on farms that have freedom and are treated well...dont most people nowadays buy them?

As for cows' milk....we are not meant to drink that....only calves are. Goats milk is much more suitable for human consumption? It is given to babies and children with skin complaints such as eczema ... it actually soothes the system

No I don't have the percentages but I guarantee the majority of Americans don't give a fuck where their food comes from and they're certainly not buying free range eggs.

Bullshit. Giant excuse.

Congratulations! With your hollow, dismissive response, you have completely undone your eco footprint and solved poverty. Now we can be (hybrid) limousine liberals like you!

Aren't you proud of yourself?

The truth is that if factory farms were eliminated and local farmers/humane production became the

norm-- you would destroy them, too.

I never said that I would destroy anything and I'm not against eating meat. When I was eating meat I did make the switch to local farm raised product. I agree this is a good way of getting these larger factories to change however there's far more ignorant consumers than there ones that aware that will continue In their ways to save a few dollars.

Thank you. 🙂

I appreciate that.

However, KittylaRouge will not address this-- which tells me I'm probably right, where she is concerned.

As for the "far more ignorant consumers"-- I don't think Kitty's campaign of violence will do

anything to increase their knowledge.

If anything, it makes the factory farms look like the victims-- esp in light of some of the fallout

from their (ALF) adventures.

NO social justice movement has been won without a mixture of non-violent protest AND direct action.
animal liberation is a social justice movement. alf actions do not target humans but systems of abuse, torture and exploitation.

Also this isn't vegan related but I thought it was funny:

4. Vanilla Ice Cream

If you??re a label-reader like me, you may see castoreum listed on vanilla & raspberry ice cream.

Ick factor: What they don't say on the label is that castoreum is the anal secretions & urine from a beaver. While not known to be harmful, knowing there's beaver pee in your ice cream may help you cut empty calories!

------

I'll never look at vanilla flavoured ice cream the same way again.
