This Holiday Season
And for the love of god, DON'T go out to eat on Thanksgiving or Christmas!
Thanksgiving is something I've dealt with since I started where I work, but then they decided to open up for Christmas recently, AND PEOPLE WENT. So now, none of us get to enjoy our Christmas because lazy assholes go out to eat. STOP ENCOURAGING THEM, PEOPLE. You are making others out there miss out on THEIR holiday because you're fat and lazy. 😢 (note- due to the gluttonous nature of our society, this is why several stores are now open on freaking Thanksgiving!)
And before anyone says anything- I've been applying for jobs for the last 3 months to get me out of there in time for the holidays. Stuck for Thanksgiving and hoping to be out by Christmas.
That said, don't go out to eat! Go visit your family (as mentioned above), dammit! If not, STAY HOME and enjoy the fricken holiday! It makes me sad that so many choose to go out on a day that was meant to be spent at home with your new shit and being around family (whether you like them or not).
Don't forget New Years. And also Kwanzaa and Hanukkah.
It might sound optimistic but if you're not out by Christmas, I hope it'll be your last Christmas in a situation like that.
If I had to work Christmas, I'd prepare throughout the week in advance like most people here do if they have a job in caretaking where they may not be able to get Christmas Eve's Day off. Those who work some Christmas Eve's get the next Christmas off or they only work every 4th year on Christmas Eve. We celebrate on the 24th. We extend Christmas until the 26th so some sorta get to celebarate and have leftovers on one of the other days but it's not the same as celebrating on the Eve of Christmas.
I've only had to work one day on the Eve of Christmas and it was so stressful coming home and having to put on a mood and rush around another kitchen (my mom's) doing the same thing I'd just been doing at work that year! When I think of others who don't get to celebate at home at all, I don't feel so sorry about that experience.
Man, the sad part is that we work every single day (I'm gonna be pissed if I'm still there by Christmas because I'll be working 5 freaking days in a row- Fri- Wed. So day before, of, and the day after Christmas). We're all scheduled to work Christmas Eve AND Christmas day. We used to be able to choose between Christmas Eve and NYE before we opened on Christmas. I always chose Christmas Eve because the money was good and NYE was a fricken waste of time (this company is so freaking stupid. I hate working for them) since nobody was there. So that time of year was doable. Xmas eve- pity tips, NYE to go party, and Xmas off.
But I've always pushed to work Christmas Day shift as opposed to night because it's slower and I can go home and enjoy the rest of my day. If I work night, it's busier and I have to rush through my Christmas.

It's all the capitalism bs. And people just don't care anymore so they go out and feed into it.
Stay the hell home for a change. You can go out to eat any day of the year. You can go watch movies any other day of the year. You can buy groceries and other shit any other day of the year. Then the very same people have the gall to say things like "WELL GET ANOTHER JOB" to anyone stuck in these soul sucking industries. It doesn't really work that way a lot of the time. Especially when these people are giving the businesses a reason to stay open. MOAR MONIES.
One year on Christmas Eve, I had a table where the lady was like "OH YOU POOR THING, YOU HAVE TO WORK TONIGHT" as she stuffs her face and proceeded to stay there half an hour past closing.

Society scares me. I find it sad that it was mentioned that in these care homes that family won't bother to come visit. Seriously? Bunch of self centered thinking anymore. :/

My friends and I used to have a tradition of going to Waffle House on Christmas eve. It was one that we ate breakfast at every friday before class, and the staff knew us well...So every year, We would go on Christmas eve. We would bring cards and small gifts for the staff, and hand out candycanes to everyone that was there. Why not take a bit of time from your own family to show a little appreciation. Even though they made our food, they always seemed more than welcoming of our visit.
And being someone who works in a 24/7, 365 day a year job, and who has worked every Thanksgiving, Christmas eve, and Christmas day for the past 6 years...
I say... Suck it up and enjoy the Holiday pay, or find another job (which I know you're doing, and best of luck to you)
You're clueless if you think servers get holiday pay. We make LESS on Christmas because those assholes are cheaper then than they are on a regular day. Your experiences do not equal everyone else's.

I just feel very strongly about people not bullying those they think are crazy. I'm sorry, but that's just evil. Picking on a grandmother that you believe to be "crazy" with a so-called "alcohol problem"? (I'm not saying she's either of those things, FYI.) Seriously? It makes me sick, quite honestly...so yeah, I get pissed off about it.
Yeah, but at some point you just gotta drop it. Say your bit and move on. The chances of it likely just being some dipshit on the other side of that monitor are pretty high (especially here). People say and do fucked up things online just for shits n giggles and because that monitor is a nice little mask to protect them.

I usually work all the holidays.
I even work a double shift if they need me. Some people call off, too much turkey. LOL
I've tried getting those days off to work in a homeless shelter.
Giving gifts and cards to staff is very creative and thoughtful.
Reminds me that there are other ways of giving.
To give you one example (out of many), I've seen you taunt Rocky many times. The most recent one (that I can recall) occurring in that "Who have you blocked" thread. She said she blocked you, and you started taunting her. Bling chimed in, as well, making that smartass remark about sending flowers. You posted that "Emo Eeyore" picture and mocked her for not being able to smile at her life, when she's posted about her mother having cancer. Who the fuck smiles at their life when their mother has cancer? I'd love to know.
Seriously? And she does this, knowing I can't see that bs. Hahaha. Hiding behind a block, a computer screen, and astrology. WHAT A WINNER!
I shouldn't be surprised though. This coming from the same chick who helped violate my privacy, didn't get what was so wrong with it, didn't want to admit to it (she KNEW she was in the wrong), then developed some serious animosity because she felt I didn't respond how SHE saw fit?

A real gift to give (and I love doing this) is bringing rescue dogs or dogs from kennels to nursing homes and sick children. It is the most rewarding thing to see the spirit ever so lifted and a true heartfelt moment.
My friends and I had a "wrapping" party the other day. They adopted a needy family for Christmas and we either helped pitch in to buy stuff or donated gifts and we wrapped everything up at the party so it could be delivered.
Goodtimes.
