Now here is the issue, he is ONLY 33 years old and on top. Most fighters and sports stars who are at the top tend to go well past the age of 35. For example, fellow leo Tom Brady played football well into his 40s and even guys like Mayweather were fighting into their late 30s. So why is it that Tyson Fury is retiring despite being in his early 30s when athletes are still in their prime? Well, I did some research and found some personal details.

Two things, Fury is talking shit as always. There's too much money left on the table for him to call it quits. If Usyk doesn't return, a fight with AJ would be the biggest fight in British history. He's leveraging his worth by threatening to retire.

Second, boxing is more dangerous than you think. Boxers take punches in sparring, sometimes engaging in literal gym wars, throughout their careers let alone actual fights. Then some have long amateur careers before going pro. The Olympics banned the use of head gear because they found it increases the chance of concussions and brain injury. Not prevent it as originally thought. In the last 5 years alone 11 fighters have died due to injuries sustained in boxing.
