I notice if you don't start shit or act like an idiot the chances of getting into a fight are slim to none. Sure there's still a chance of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but words and actions are dead giveaways. Silence is unpredictable.

well IT learned a lesson that day after getting IT'S ass beat. im sitting here cracking up at the thought of rocks being thrown at the back of IT'S head. that's what the fuck IT gets.

Reputable martial arts schools tend to instill in their students variations on the axiom: " if you have to resort to violence in an encounter, your opponent has already won".

Then again, there are exceptions to that axiom.

right....so they teach martial arts so no one can use it. that philosophy can kick rocks. tell them to say that in a mugging or threatening situation. ying yang and peace and love is not going to work in those situations. some people only respond best to an ass kicking.

Not quite.
There came a point for me the realization that what I was learning could maim and potentially kill someone.
Violence should never be the first choice, except when there is no other alternative.
Mugging or the threat (not verbal, but physically immanent) of severe harm is different than getting hit by a thrown bottle by a drunk.

i learned martials arts too. of course you never use it as a first choice. but when in life threatening situations instincts come in. now drunks and idiots those you just walk away from. but as for stealing a purse.... that's up in the air. i think arielle did right.
