This is the average human being's life:

Born.

Sent to school.

Come out with a degree.

Work.

Marry.

Raise kids.

Die.

A lot of us are at point 3 in our lives right now. Some at point 6.

But for as long some of us can remember we've been clenched fists.

You know? Like you have to hold your breath to actually stay breathing?

We're all like this, in some small way or other.

Tommorow is a blank.

Next week isn't even conceivable.

A year from now? Two? Pssssh.

Marriage? Some of us aren't sure about doing (or doing AGAIN).

Kids? Some of us aren't sure about raising (or raising AGAIN).

Dying... well, we've got no choice in the matter, have we?

Life rarely lets us get our way.

Yet we haven't left. We're still here.

Suicide... isn't an option. Even though it's the quickest way out.

What the f**k are we waiting for? What are we hoping for? To see? To feel? To experience?

We don't know what's coming, do we? We don't know what we're waiting for.

Honestly and truly, we don't.

Yet we're still here.

Hoping...

We're comfortable not knowing.

But only a few of us are comfortable acknowledging that it's a very pathetic existence, indeed.

TO BE CONTINUED...

Some of us believe in Heaven. But you're waiting to get there.

Some of us believe in total blackness and eternal rest. Still waiting.

Some of us believe in reincarnation. Yup. Waiting for another go.

Waiting, waiting, waiting.

That's all we ever do.

We wait for that promotion. For that one true love. For enough money to buy that house.

Waiting, waiting, waiting.

That seems to be the Point of Life, condensed.

Waiting. While time slips on by.

Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, TOCK.

Waiting to live. Waiting to die. Waiting for a better easier existence outside this one or to have another go on this one as someone new.

Waiting for him, waiting for her, waiting for them, waiting for it, waiting for there, waiting for when, waiting for how.

Just...waiting.

Given that we're all going to die anyway my purpose is to enjoy whatever time I have here. Do the things that I want to do, not what society expects me to do. Spend more money on experiences than material items, when you're looking back on life you won't regret the things you did near as much as those that you wanted to but never did.

That's my M.O in a nutshell.

The feeling of waiting sucks, which is why I try better to live for the moment. It's good to know something nice is pending, but to be 'waiting' for it I think is just a state of mind that some people adopt more than others.

I am just as capable of 'waiting' for something as anybody but if I ever find myself doing this, i'll switch things around in my mind and take on a more enjoyable perception of the situation, be it here and now, future, whatever. There are things i'm looking forward to next week but i'm not preoccupied with the expectation of it, rather i'm enjoying what's going on in my life today. 🙂

Lol you're still waiting, though. In living for the moment you're still waiting for something.

You may not know what but you are.

Otherwise you wouldn't have much to keep living for.

That's it: the SURPRISE.

Life is full of them. Which is why in living we're waiting.

We're waiting to be surprised.

Can we escape all this waiting malarky through choice is what i'm asking and are we stuck with it? Is it an actual act or a state of mind? What if I can't be bothered waiting, or don't particularly want to wait?

Neither, I think. In the extreme I would believe that, like being born, it just happens.

We're just waiting. End of.

No conception or incubation stage, that's what the mother (who in this case would be Life) experiences.

As a new born, life (waiting) happens to us. We're not alive one minute and living the next.

Same I think with waiting. We don't consciously wait, though we can, like we don't consciously breathe but we can make a conscious effort to breathe.

It just happens.

We don't know what's round the corner but we stick around because we know there's a corner.

That knowledge is the waiting.

Or, I could just be full of sh**...

Haha! Nah. I listed it like that bcause it's wht everyone thinks they should strive towards (which is where the whole "average human being's life" thing comes from).

It's what we're told to want until we learn to want for ourselves.

You know, the video Satori posted is really comforting.

I don't know about other people, but for me the fear has never been dying. It's what I leave bhind that scares the sh** outta me.

I see old people who walk faster than people my age and it brings me happiness. It makes me know that old age is just a mindset.

You will grow old and die, but you at lest have the smidgen of a choice in how quickly you leave.

My fear is of of course shallow though, since I wanna look good (you know, not found rotting 2 weeks after and whatnot) when I die.

Scientists Successfully Teach Gorilla It Will Die Someday

Oh my God.

That is crazy.

It's funny: who can actually remember when they first learned the concept of death?

How you reacted?

I don't remember. I can't trace what went on inbtween me not knowing and me knowing that one day I would die.

Nor can I recall how I reacted.

I used to be more scared of growing old than I was of death. I was this way from about age 12 until I was in my 20's. I went through being terrified of nuclear war when I was young as well. I am now pretty much over that.

I don't fear death anymore and that actually came when I discovered spirituality. I do believe there is a heaven although now I also believe in other forms of spiritual paths other than just Christianity. I just go through life believing that I do have a purpose and that the main purpose is to be happy and share that happiness with others. To try and alleviate some of the sadness and suffering for others if I can in any way. I make it a goal to share joy, laughter and sincerity with those around me. That is my purpose and what I do in the "waiting" time. I don't really think of it as waiting though. I get excited about upcoming events and such but I really try and live life in the fullest and live it with gusto moment by moment! I am also a very strong believer in not living by society's standards or expectations but I try and live by the beat of my own drum!

I have been married and raised kids and I am now in school to become an RN. I don't think I ever want to be married again. I know I don't want anymore children. I have my furry babies to take care of that...he he. I would like to be a world traveler and that is a big theme I have on my vision board but most of all I just treasure every happy moment I am given!

Such a deep question for a Sunday morning but if you must ask .....it is really simple.... the answer is to experience life. Nothing more or less. It is about the journey, the experience, the relationships we aquire, the lessons ......if you think it is about the car you drive, the title you have, the material wealth .....than you just might be missing the big picture. I feel like life is like being on vacation on foreign land ....exploration ...exploration ...exploration. It never ceases to surprise me. 😉 It is us humans who complicate the matter.

What the f**k are we waiting for? What are we hoping for? To see? To feel? To experience?

It's all left up to whatever cards you are dealt in life. By cards, I mean, whatever you are born into -- from generation to generation, we are all born into something.

We don't know what's coming, do we? We don't know what we're waiting for.

We are not suppose to know, there is no purpose in living if you know everything. We live to learn because that's what mammals do, how much we learn depends on the individual.

Honestly and truly, we don't.

We're comfortable not knowing.

But only a few of us are comfortable acknowledging that it's a very pathetic existence, indeed.

I wouldn't say we all are comfortable with not knowing and I wouldn't call not knowing a pathetic existence. Like I said, there's no point in living if you know all that's going to happen to you on all fronts. Life is one big circle and we continue on and on until we take are last breath, along the way, we learn, some learn more or less then others, but that's what the brain in conditioned to do, gather and store information.

So from what I gathered from PD, VB and St PP, we're here for the good moments life has to offer.

I could live with that.

My mind doesn't want to shut up, though, which is where Pisces_Dream is right about us humans lol

Yeah us humans have a way of mucking it all up.......love, life, purpose, and meaning .......I am a huge fan of Terry Gilliam's movies ......Monty Pythons, Time Bandits, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, The Imgainarium of Doctor Parnassus.....great movies making light of life. Sometimes us humans take life way too seriously. 😉

One of my favorite scense of Bon Munchausen - He is trying to die because of all the complexities of life....

It's like... all we're here for is to get somewhere else. Somewhere we may never truly get to.

and inbetween 1 and 6 - is the journey of life...what our "mission" on earth is/was, well, i am hoping we find out one day. 😉

exactly. i don't believe in this pseudo-happiness like "life is great" "become a millionaire in two days" you get the picture - blah blah; but i do believe that whatever folds out in front of us in our lifepath, is there for a reason. be that positive or negative.

Yep, same here. In a way, I do believe that people slightly in control of their own fate -- not all the way, but slightly.

Exactly, just stop asking questions we??re never going to get any answers to anyway. Ter is NO point to why we are here, don't you get it? Must we continupusly remind ourselves of that fact??

You know what stuck out in this post? The "we're never going to get answers to anyway" part.

It made me think of religion.

If there is a heaven, would God be willing to sit down and answer the shitload of questions us humans would wanna ask?

How about the "WEho created YOU?" question?

Will we EVER know how things really began?

The origin... of EVERYTHING?

We sort of know the END. I measn, people die, stars die, planets will die and all that'll be left is the blackness of the universe.

But... the beginning?

And it's good to ask questions. Even if the answers are difficult ones.

Knowledge is the ultimate.

Exactly, but mine is sort of a variation on the losing senses thing where I wanna be able to do things for myself right until the day I die.

I fear blindness more than death, though. I would imagine that blindness is worse than living when it comes to the fear of "The Unknown".

It's a simulation of death.

This thread should be called:

"Life as viewed from the Lower Mind"

🙂

I don't get it.

It sounds like the lower mind is a part of the brain.

If the aim was too insult you should've gone with something more direct.

Seriously, is the lowerr mind a part of the brain? And if so, why do you think the thread should be called that?

Or, am I just being naive and you WERE shitting all over the thread?

Explain, man, you've got me all curious and shit.

You know, I created this thread because I felt really happy.

It was in acknowledgement of the things us humans tend to surround ourselves with to give this meaningless existence a little bit of meaning.

I was just examining the recent meaning I found in my life and the happiness it brought me and I realised a pattern that made me wonder what it is we are here for.

Religion teaches that we are here to serve a higher purpose for someone bigger than we are. Therefore the reason for living isn't a selfish one.

Yet it can be drawn from personal accounts on here (as is my personal belief) that we are here to experience the little things in life that bring us joy.

Which is admittedly a little selfish in terms of reasons for being on earth.

Yet, neither is right or wrong, nor was I interested in the right and the wrong to begin with.

I just realised that as human beings the way we live is through expectating (waiting).

Even when we're moving (living) we're static (waiting/expecting) because the reason we are moving (living) is to experience things (reach a point/place, be it happiness, parent-hood, wealth etc).

Therefore in the time between living and reaching a pivotal point in our lives we never stop expecting (waiting).

We are living because we are expecting those pivotal moments to happen anytime now.

We don't know when, we don't know how, we don't know with whom.

But we know it'll come.

How long the novelty lasts before we move on to the next point is a personal thing.

I just wanted to get that out of my head.

ok its time to give my two cents and this is the short version....

the universe aligned to create the planet earth as its center....and the earth eventually created us.....to me we are the only living things in the universe that has a conscious....and without humans to see the universe with our eyes and beleive in it, it would not exist.....theres a duality here because the planets our there affect us and so does our environment we cant exist without them and it all cant exist without us its like the universe is the body and earth is the consciousness/spirit.....but can u beleive a universe without a consciousness? without something out there thinking of anything?......to me its impossible it would be like soo quiet and truly lonely....so we are born we think there fore we are and so is the universe.....it doesnt matter what we do with our lives.....we are free to do whatever we want because were sustaining existence by merely existing ....yes I'm sure the universe at some points go without consciousness when beings die those are sleeping periods when the universe naps and dreams.....its hard to write it out but i think u guys get what I'm saying.

I believe we are related to mermaids that left earth ages ago by turning the earths core into a vortex transporting them to uranus because it has a deep freezing cold ocean.....because they are a vain race they used to beach theyre ugly babies and they evolved into us....Its fun to believe in things.
