Hey Katana!

Totally forgot about the Spoilers!

Sorry guys....
But you pretty much get what it is about, if you have seen the trailer though.

Did you had the chance to see this movies in theaters, Katana?
I watched in on my laptop sadly... I think if I have seen it in the theaters I would have been clenching on the seats.

But the dreamy atmosphere (+Innocence of the young group of people) of the film is still within me. I think that striked me the most. Reminded me of the Virgin Suicides

Lol this is a total rip-off of a re-occuring nightmare I used to have of being followed by an entity in human form that only moves at a walking speed; you can easily get away from it for the time being, but wherever you go you will have to pick up and keep running eventually, bc it will catch up... be it in days, weeks, months. I would wake up exhausted.. Needless to say I haven't been this creeped out by a horror movie in a really long time.

Like someone somewhere said, it's probably the first movie ever about a STG, "sexually transmitted ghost" lol. The overall setting too is fascinating in the way it creates a little world of its own that sort of transcedents reality. It's like an alternative universe taking place in the present, with 1980's cars and suburbs, and 1950's home decor with ancient television sets, showing black and white monster movies only it seems.

Where are all the adults, aside from being faceless figures walking by here and there? These kids seem basically left to their own demise. It sort of captures that feeling of what it was like when you were a child, out playing with your friends, creating imaginary monsters that were invisible to the adult world. Something about it also reminds me of Stephen King's "It" the way it should have been adapted to the screen. Also loved the whole visual style, haven't seen pan-and-zoom shots used like this since Robert Altman was in height of fashion in the mid 70's.

Good thing I didn't read anything about it before I saw it. You have these know-it-all cinephiles and film scholars, reading into things and looking for metaphors... apperantly every movie these days is suppose to be a metaphor for something else. Usually the most obvious. It's a horror movie. It's suppose to speak to our primal fears, not be over-analyzed. Let it be just that!

And if it's not these pseudo-intellectuals it's people bitching about explanations and plot holes, and how it's a rip-off of "Halloween" and whatnot ...yet the same group of individuals will watch "Paranormal Activity" or any of its numerous sequals and ripoffs without batting an eye. Yeah stfu. To conclude, a highly original and originally executed horror indie.

^^ If you're still reading and planning on seeing it, unfortunately I've probably overhyped it for you.
