Phantasm(1979)

Interesting historical artifact, this movie reached cult status thanks to its B status.

Enjoying the kitsch amateurism of the production is much more interesting than the actual movie which is just an incoherent suite of jump scares. Best seen in a drive in.

Haven't seen the sequels though, they could be more interesting


Phantasm 2 (1988)

Is like some sort of pop culture tribute to the first episode (and to all the horror movies released during those 9 years span).

A couple tiers below the first movie. It has lost the spontaneity, but it's not too bad, It has all the grittiness and the reddish hue of a B slasher/action movie from the late 80s, if you're into that sort of things.

Just came back from the cinema...watched Red Sparrow.

Pretty good movie, some scenes pretty much play against the western values like women's dignity and decency especially when the protagonist is at State school No. 4 and they're learning the art of knowing what the target wants and giving it to them in order to get closer, to obtain trust and extract information out.

The electric skin peeler scene in amg wtf lol.

Knight moves(1992)

A thriller made during the purple glam era (1987-1993) with all the qualities of thrillers made during that era: corny, sexy and stylish. With an extra topping of corny for this one.

A good diversion if you're into this type of things. The type of film used during that era gives fantastic aesthetic to every scene, even if it's for the dumbest movie.

Not a movie, but i finished The Americans. What a show.

The acting, cinematography, the way how it creeps up on you and continues to creep ever more successfully as seasons go by......11/10

I picked it as a cheap GoT substitute, so had full 6 seasons to go through which i managed in about 2 months, but as it turned out it can stand on it's own just fine.

Went to check Rotten Tomatoes season reviews, mindblown, 1st season 88% , the rest iirc all over 95% + with two of them at 100% . Just LOL.

LION

This is such a beautiful film, with a simple story line, without any frills. A young Indian boy leaves their village with his older brother to do some "jobs", in one of these jobs he gets lost and cannot find his way back home. Pass some years and he's adopted by a family from Australia, and when that boy becomes an adult, he starts wondering where he's actually from.
