Here's hoping he soon releases an album of the same ilk, as his recent improvisational excursions have left me completely cold.

I think divorce left a big mark on him, and trying to find way back to his peace of mind, he went through few musical phases; with Blemish just releasing the anger, with Manafon questioning his beliefs and life in general. In between that and right now, he collaborated a lot, went to live in the woods, so, again, trying to find himself again. I really think the divorce has shattered beliefs and self assurance he slowly and sistematically built through religion and music. Hopefully, he will come back to his old, and even better self.

Though I enjoyed him in Nine Horses.

Oh, divorce definitely left a mark on him and, yes, it has left him in a spiritual crisis.

Blemish was a brave release but also the last album that I enjoyed (I couldn't get into Nine Horses - it sounded disjointed, attempted to be a little commercial and I couldn't stand the backing singers).

With each consecutive album release, he sounds more resigned than before (or is that depressed?). I just wished he returned to more melodic song structures, even if they're as challenging as Blemish.

If nothing else, it goes to show that marrying a female Sag is harmful to a man's emotional well-being...

Ingrid is an early Aquarius (21.1.1965), with a lot of Earth (Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo), so she doesn't give of a reckless vibe..they have some good aspects romance wise (Mars Venus conjunct, Sun Venus conjunct, etc) but also heavy ones (her Saturn is early Pisces, right on David's Sun, then her Moon Mars conjunction square his Saturn, etc). Plenty of things that binded them together, but also some that almost guarantee big problems that build up gradually and eventually explode...I just had a brief look at their charts, but it looks like they deeply loved and cared for each other.

It's unfortunate their love dissipated.

As for David's work, some people write their best music pieces when under enormous stress, I think David is not one of those.

He writes and composes genius stuff when he believes in himself and feels peaceful inside.

Like you, I miss the melody in his songs.

He has a gift to express the most complicated emotions in such an understated way, without losing the intensity. Hopefully, he will come back to that, but somehow I feel that with the experience he went through, he lost the innocence and naivety that was the core of his melody. I hope I'm wrong here.
