Metal and vox

Any metal fans here?

Does anyone here like growling, or what they call "cookie monster" vocals? You hear them most in death metal, but you'll also hear them sometimes in other kinds of metal.

They make me laugh more than anything. They're not scary, or threatening in any way - just silly and goofy. I've got roughly 20 metal CD's in my entire collection, and I'll specifically pull out one of my 'death vox' CD's for a good dosage of belly laughs. I mean, it's cathartic with all it's manic, fast-paced energy and all, but as a bonus, I get to laugh my ass off in the process.

If you like metal, who are some of your favorite bands and albums?

Are you talking about bands like Slipknot? The screaming rather then singing stuff?

Yikes those kinda dudes are scary and the music................ um.

Ha! Yeah, Slipknot does all the screaming stuff.

But, for the "cookiemonster" death growls I'm mostly referring to, try to find some songs or samples by a band called Cannibal Corpse, a death metal band. They're one *perfect* example. It's monkeys like *these* who I find laughable in the extreme (I'm an animal lover, so I take it back as to not insult actual monkeys.) Try listening to any of that stuff while keeping a straight face.

(note: I actually do *not* own any Cannibal Corpse albums - I wouldn't care to.)

I'm not the biggest Metallica fan, but I think I saw some of that documentary as well. I saw a part where Lars was confronting James about something, and he spoke to him in a calm, rational way, and James gets up, curses, and storms out the room. He's such a big baby, lol.
