this one slightly grates my brain

I'm always torn about Lil B. He has great production but he always ruins it & he doesn't have to try because of his fanbase which I don't know if they like him ironically or they just are mindless. Like he'll say something nice like, “You always complain about what you aint got/3rd world countries don't even got sidewalks” but then that's like one in a million. I blame him & Soulja Boy for all the 'Soundcloud Rap/Yachty/Uzi Vert/Lil Pump" type stuff that's out.

honestly, i only dabble in this area of music. i dont listen to a lot of contemporary rap bc it just doesnt hold me like 80s/90s shit does and bc of that, im really lazy w/ my exploration. i do like some of lil b's stuff. i did like "i'm gay" when it came out. i also really like lil uzi vert's media persona. citing marilyn manson as an influence is so funny to me.

i am such a nostalgia junky that i'll almost always prefer something older when presented with something new. i've had the same fave band since i was 15, just can't let go!!

I do listen to both new & old and I filter a lot. If you like 90s hip-hop, you might like the kids from Pro Era or Complex Fusion. The old vs modern will always be an argument; in true Libra fashion, I can't pick a side since I appreciate creative merit in everything. Like I don't dislike Uzi Vert (shit, I'll play XO Tour Llif3 in the car), but I can't get into Lil Pump yet I'll listen to Yung Lean. I don't know, can't really explain it.

Although boom-bap 90s hip-hop is probably my favorite, I always post a little bit of everything on the Music forum since I like a lot of genres & I had a ton of influences. But I'm on the same boat in terms of being a nostalgia junkie. 45+ year olds came up to me @ a Hall & Oates concert in Milwaukee asking me what I was doing there.

i havent done much exploring of this variety since... 2008? i thiiiiink was the last time i checked in. i've been listening to these folk albums from weird asian countries for the passed 10 years so i will def check out your suggestions. time to mix it up. thanks 🙂

ps thought about starting a world music thread, see if any other esoteric weirdos are out there in astro land. but it may end up w/ videos of loreena mckennitt & enya (who i may or may not be totally against).

edit: lmao yep last i remember being a big hit was t.i. "whatever you like". that was 2008

I was thinking about a World Music/New Age/Worldbeat thread too. Do it, I'm sure people will post! Whenever I see those celestial painting avs on here, I always assume that person listens to Enigma lol. I know the first page would be the entire tracklist of Pure Moods Vol. 1. (which I like).

Whoa, I never noticed that! I used to play Eternal Champions on Genesis. Then again, I was always high whenever I played the E.1999 Eternal album.
