In between annual deep cleaning and cooking before family gets together.

Thanksgiving is a uniquely American holiday (Canada has their version).

It began as a way of giving thanks during the harvest season, and wasn't set as a date until the mid 1800s. And yes, it did have a religious aspect, but non-specific as to denomination.

That is its root beyond the football games and trytophan comas--Gratitude, and a time to reflect. An attitude that is in seemingly short supply in the modern era.

I sincerely wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving this year.

Things I am thankful for:

Family that is still with us, warts and all.

The ability to provide and sustain a decent standard of living--a stability when the world seems to be in tumult.

My health.

The ability to make people laugh, even when they may be low.

The love and good will of family and friends.

A success to a long time struggle of finding peace within myself.

Wishes:

People regain their sanity, and seek deeper meaning within their lives and within others, without hostility, presumption, or motive of self gain.

That people acquire a live and let live mindset, while remaining self aware and being responsible for their actions--a mindful attitude.
