we definetly don't have a west coast style ..if anything,saint louis bit the west coast because ya'll got bloods and crips in your city, we don't..

and the east coast is where most of the clothing lines come from, so of course we may wear what they wear, but we got our own style too..150 hats, pelle leathers,etc..we got our on lingo too, we don't sound like east coast cats..but u stl cats don't know if u from the midwest or down south..

This is true. That's what makes our city unique, it's midwestern and southern, and we've got some great french and spanish architectural influence. It's limited as far as people save for everyone being catholic and a bunch of ppl with french last names.
We also have some neighborhood talk that is why thicker and more unique than Chicago talk.
Of course we shake that when we move to other cities, but, Chicago ppl can always tell when someone is from STL.

if you ever been to chicago, you'd know the we don't act ANYTHING like new yorkers..other cities around the east coast may have nyc type attitudes thou..

and we clique up because we relate to each other more so then anybody else..small towns is boring as hell and can't compare to my city, so of course we may look down on you..don't take it too personal thou, thats just how we are

For a city of 3 million people Chicago is fucking BORING!!! That's probably why so many people here think going to WISCONSIN is a vacation (which begs the question of why, if small towns are so boring, can Chicago people not seem to stop visiting them?). Downtown is dead by 8PM and aside from there and the lakefront, the entire town is a depressing dump full of drug addicts, alcoholics and battered women. I'm so glad that in less than 6 months I'll be in San Francisco which, despite being much smaller is more cultured and has a better quality of life than Chicago can EVER hope to have. That's because unlike Chicago, San Francisco has progressive-minded people who actually get off their ass and do something. Chicago is a bunch of yuppies who claim to be so liberal and open-minded, yet are scared of anyone darker than a paper bag (even the yuppies who are themselves Black or Latino!). Race relations in Chicago are stuck in the 1950s and that's why it's the most segregated city in the country.

I will agree with you on one thing though... Chicagoans definitely don't act like New Yorkers. They act like the stereotype of what everyone THINKS New Yorkers are like. I stopped going to clubs because I got tired of seeing a bunch of 'roided up douchebags slugging it out Jersey Shore style or even pulling guns on each other when I was just trying to have a good time. In fact, if I ever come back to the Midwest (not damn likely!) I'm going to Minneapolis or Milwaukee because I can't think of a single thing in Chicago that I couldn't do in either one of those places for less money... which only brings to mind another example of how Chicago's pathetically juvenile mentality... the idea that expensive = good. It doesn't! That's why there's so many wealthy businessmen in Chicago... they know you're gullible enough to pay out the ass for complete crap!

Oh well, you can keep being cliquish well into your 40s and think that shit is cute, but I'm not even out of my 20s and I'm already too old for that shit... enjoy dodging the crackheads on every other corner during your cold ass winters!

Yes, Berkeley has those types, but no more than what you'd find in any major college town. In fact, UC has one of the largest chapters of College Republicans in the country.

Chicago has better architecture than San Francisco? ARE YOU SERIOUS?!? San Francisco is one of the most architecturally renowned places in the entire world. Of course, I'm guessing you're one of the many Chicago people who doesn't actually understand architecture and think "good architecture" just means having a bunch of tall buildings.

Since you sound pretty young, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume your POV is due to immaturity than anything else. But know that because of Chicago's cliquish nature, all of the important decisions in this city are made by an exclusive group of old white men and the first two don't apply to you (I'm assuming you're not white because there's not a whole lot of white dudes in the 100's). I only moved to Chicago because I got hired to write for a local weekly and it was the first chance I had to actually use my degree for something other than free-lance work, but the paper folded not even two months after I arrived. I might have been willing to gut it out until I found something else to do, but the Chicago attitude got old REAL quick... everyone has their lil crew who they've probably known since high school (if not sooner) gassin' them up into thinking they're someone too important to give common respect to someone outside their group. There's a reason Kanye called Chicago the city of haters.

To answer your question... Atlanta, Georgia and PG County, Maryland are both more/less run by blacks and doing very well financially.

The reason I said you should move is so that maybe you'll see how backwards Chicago is since I wouldn't expect someone who grew up immersed in it to understand that it's not normal for an entire city... especially one the size of Chicago... to be like that. But then, ignorance is bliss and if being in that environment really makes you happy, then far be it of me to tell you otherwise. Just don't act like something is wrong with those who aren't willing to put up with it because that only marks you as someone whose naive and living in a bubble.
