Its weird how they named this PPV World War 3 every year. I should have went from 3 to 4 to 5. :/

1.Glacier/Ernest Miller v Faces of Fear w/Jimmy Hart
This feud just needs to die. Seriously, who gives a fuck. 1/5

2. TV title — Perry Saturn (c) w/Raven v Disco Inferno
Speaking of dead, we get a disco match. On PPV :/. The 3 rings are always so awkward. Ehhh. 1.5/5

3. Yuji Nagata w/Sonny Onoo v Ultimo Dragon
I see bored people in the audience. Ehhhh still nothing special. 2/5. Least each match is gettin .5 better I guess.

4. Tag titles — The Steiner Brothers (c) w/Ted DiBiase v The Blue Bloods (Steven Regal/Dave Taylor)
Who booked this PPV full of matches that nobody gives a fuck about. Torturous match. 1.5/5

JJ Dillion comes out and states that this will be Raven's last match unless he signs a contract within 24 hours

5. Scotty Riggs v Raven
Little better storyline at least but match was nothin special. 1.5/5

Steve —Mongo?? McMichael v Bill Goldberg
Steve had attacked Goldberg backstange before the match with a lead pipe. Don't even have to play the game of Clue. So that match doesnt happen.

6. Steve McMichael v Alex Wright w/Debra
Stupid turn of events and a bad match to boot. 0/5

7. Cruiserweight title — Eddie Guerrero (c) v Rey Mysterio Jr
Lets see if they can have a great match like the last PPV and save this shitty ass show. It ends up not even close to as great as their match at Halloween Havoc and yet still the match of the night thus far. 3/5

8. US title/No DQ — Curt Hennig (c) v Ric Flair
Decent enough match, but actually quite boring. 2/5

9. 60 man 3 ring battle royal
A chatotc and boring first ten+ minutes. The next 1 minutes arent much better. Giant clears his ring. Comes to NWO against Giant, DDP, Lugar, Booker T, and Rick Steiner. The final four are Giant, Hall, Savage and DDP. Then out comes an NWO member, Is it Kevin Nash who didnt show up for his spot? No its Hogan...Down comes Sting! A very tall Sting. Eliminates Giant with a baseball bat. Its not Sting its Nash and Hall wins. Too many shenanigans. Idk how to rate this clusterfuck.

Certainly a sold F.

Liveee from Pennsylvania. It is ECWs largest crowd to date.

1. Chris Candido vs. Tommy Rogers
After quite the battle the match becomes a
1B.Candido and Lance Storm vs Rogers and Jerry Lynn. The one on one match was decent enough but it got really hot when the tag match started. Good opener. 2.5/5

2. Mikey Whipwreck vs. Justin Credible (w/ Jason)
Pretty good with an interesting result 2/5

3. Television Champion Taz vs. Pitbull 2 (w/ Pitbull 1, Brakkus, and Lance Wright)
This is a quickie as Taz wins in dominating fashion. Again. 1/5

4. Tag Team 4-Way Dance: Tag Team Champions The FBI (Tracy Smothers and Little Guido) vs. The Dudley Boyz vs. Balls Mahoney and Axl Rotten vs. The Gangstanators (New Jack and John Kronus)
Chaotic as fuck as expected. With a screwy ending. Decent enough chaos. 2/5

5. Rob Van Dam (w/ Bill Alfonso) vs. Tommy Dreamer (w/ Beulah McGillicutty)
A good ol "get the fuck out" chant to RVD during the match. Hot crowd during this battle. Ref fiiiight! Man the crowd is going nuts! Cant even hear Joey. Stevie Richards shows up and helps RVD, La Fon and Furnas beat on Dreamer. Match ends with this shenanigans. Sabu joins the beat down. Enter Sandman. Hes out for his match. The ending really took away from a pretty great match. 3/5

6. Tables and Ladders Match: Sabu vs. Sandman
pretty brutal match. I enjoyed it. 2.5/5

7. ECW Champion Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Shane Douglas (w/ Francine)
Pretty baaad main event after all that hype. 1/5

Decent enough paper view but since I am an hard ass grader is justtt misses a passing grade. D+

Raw December 1 97
Liveeee from Roanoke Virginia. Redneck country by the looks of the crowd.

Out comes Road Dog and Billy Gunn. The new Tag team champions. They talk shit about the legion of Doom. They take on the LOD one more time at the upcoming PPV. LOD attacks em!

Aquila v. Taka Michinoku. Part of the light heavyweight title tournament. Good match.

We get a weirddd ass Luna and Goldust promo. 😐 Idk wtf I just watched actually. :/

DoA v. Nation v. Los Baricuas v. Truth Commission. Probs gnna be a clusterfuck and it does end in a clusterfuck.

DX is out next. Michaels is in a wheelchair. They make fun of Jim Neidhart who DX tricked and fucked over last week. They mock slaughter and his wife. Shawn says he has worked out his ankle so that Shamrock cant beat him wih the ankle lock. They twist shawns ankle round and around. Stupid.

They show footage from survivor series of the screw job as they continue to play on it.

Rock is out to Rocky sucks chants. He takes on Vader. Out comes Stone cold in a pick up truck to watch the match with some beers. The red necks in the crowd be lout chantin for Austin. The match is pretty meh.

Scott Taylor is in the ring waiting for his match with Brian Christopher. Out comes Kane to kick his ass.

Ahmed Johnsons vs Jeff Jarrett is next. Jeff is wearing the most ATROCIOUS ring gear. Jeff says his debut will not be tonight since the WWF doesnt want to promote his debut right. Slaughter comes out and says since Jeff doesnt want to fight tonight, at the paper he takes on The Undertakerrr.

New Age Outlaws vs Headbangers. Not much of a match.

They show the replay of DX humiliating Neidhart last week.

Mero talks shit about Butterbean. Crowd just chants for sable tho. Mero isnt pleased as he thinks he is the star.

Triple H vs Neidhart is the main event. DX beat him down and spray paint WCW on his back. Slaughter comes down but gets beat down. Out comes Shamrock! He turns the side. Show ends with Triple H in a cobra clutch and shawn in an ankle lock.

The wrestling was still HORRID. The angles and promos not much better. Not a good show, really.

Dec 1 97 WCW Nitro

Zbyszko has gotten Bischoff to agree to a match at Starrcade. Bischoff comes out for an interview. He says he wont wrestle Larry since Larry cant put Nitro on the line in the match.

Juventud Guerrera v. Rey Mysterio Jr. This should be good. Eddie comes out and goes to the announce table to call the match. Pretty good stuff from these two which was expected.

Wrath vs Hugh Morrus is next Talk about a weak follow up.

Hogan is out next for his spiel. He says Sting is a coward since he is always here and Sting is not. He says he will go around and pull the Sting mask off everyone who has one in the audience. He then goes and argue with an old lady in the audience. lmao

Yuji Nagata v. Prince Iaukea. Theres a "McMahon fears ratings" sign in the audience. lmao. Quick and to the point.

Faces of Fear v. Harlem Heat. Okay tag match.

Here come Hall and Nash for their promo. They do their survey and talk their shit. Hall vs disco is the match. Easy win for Hall.

JJ Dillon comes out and says He will let Larry put Nitro on the line in a match against Bischoff!

Ultimo Dragon v. Psychosis. That old lady in the audience is wild! Match was aight.

The flock is in the crowd. Chris Benoit v. Kidman. Ravens rules. Match could have been better. Raven and the flock attack Benoit after.

Buff vs Lex. meh.

Curt Hennig v. DDP for WCW US Title is the main event. Ends in a Hogan and NWO beat down. To send a message to Sting.

Total opposite of Raw with lots of matches. Kind of dragged on tho but more entertaining than Raw fo sure.

Im not gonna watch the WWF PPV. It will just end up an F on the list.

Highlights from last nights PPV starts the show. Austin brang his truck to the ring and destroyed the nation members with it. Before regaining his title against The Rock.

After an awful PPV the night before the ratings dropped quite a bit of Raw against Nitro.

Vince comes out and and says Austin is too dangerous and needs to change. He orders stone cold vs the rock for the title tonight. Austin gets in his face and says he will do what he wants, when he wants.

LOD vs Godwins. But during the match here comes Kane. Who drills Hawk. New Age Outlaws talk shit afterwards. They challenge anyone to a singles match. Out comes Dude Love. Billy Gunn vs Dude Love it is.

Lawler comes out and rips on asians to Taka. :/ Brian Christopher ends up coming out for an ambush on Taka.

They show a video package of the "total destruction of the Hart Foundation" by DX. And how last night after the Shawn-Shamrock match, Owen Hart attacked Shawn.

DX is out next for their Sex Innuendo filled promo. They say they flushed the hart foundation like turds. But sometimes one little nugget wont go down nd comes back up. He compres that to Owen. DX plans to stay and play strip poker till Owen comes out. They play at ring side ass the next match starts.

After the match DX takes the strip poker game to the ring. The headbangers come out for the next match. And attack DX. DX beats em down. During the beat down however, Owen comes from the crowd and attacks Shawn!

Vader vs Jarrett. Goldust comes out and flashes Vader. Stupid ass story.

Mero comes out talking his shit. Tries to run down his opponent. He brings Sable out in a potato sack so that nobody will check her out.. Sable ends up taking off the sack to reveal a skimpy bikini. Mero is livid!

Rock is out for the min event. Austin comes out not wearing wrestling attire. Austin does not want to defend the title and asks Vince what he is going to do about it. Rock thinks Vince should fie him lolol. Vince says he will strip Austin of the title! Austin says he will knock Vinces damn teeth out! Austin is going to hand over his belt to Rocky. He hands it to Rock and wants to shake his hand and tells him to trust him. He raises Rocks hands...and soon stuns him! He takes the mic and says "DTA Dont Trust Anybody. Theres your little intercontinental champion laying right there on his ass!"

He says he has plans for the belt and they just have to tune in next week. Same stone cold time. Same Stone cold channellll. Vince is pissy. Vince stands on the apron. Austin runs the ropes and knocks him down! Vince is livid and yells YOU STUPID SON OF A BITCH.

Still early in the whole austin/mcmahon and austin/rock rivalries but I loveee it. Its leading the show while the rest of the stories are clusterfucks.

I hear Steve Austin's podcast series is a classic by all means, not just in wrestling circles but beyond.

Its pretty great. Jericho has one now too.

They need to stop with these throw away shows

Some undertaker and Kane stuff start the show.

Taka vs Lawler. meh

Austin has one hour to give Rock his belt back.

Road Dogg vs Foley. Ends with Gunn and Dog throwing him off the ramp into a table.

The theme song for the second hour is awfullllllllll now. I believe they change back to the old one. They better.

Vince calls out Owen for an interview. Owen starts off cussin up a storm. Great promo. One of Owens best ever. and he gets in vinces face at the end. Vince should have let Owen out of his contract tho in real life because we all know how that ended.

It is time for Austin to give the belt to Rock. But on the titantron is Austin. He is on a bridge and he infamously throws the belt off the bridge into the water!

We get a video of vince talking. This is the moment Vince says WWF is like a soap opera "like days of our lives..." (good choice Vince). He officially welcomes everyone into the attitude era, basically.

A lot of filler matches and shit.

DX vs Legion of Doom is the main event. Out comes the new age outlaws to help Shawn and Trips beat down LOD and hurt and humiliate them. Heels will be even more hated.

Entertaining enough show. Still could be better tho.

Hall takes his survey. Hall then has a rematch against Jericho after that last upset. Not as fun.

Goldberg beats down Steve McMichael backstage. They then brawl on the ramp.

Booker T v. Randy Savage. Macho goes crazy as usual.

JJ and Eric discuss the Eric vs Larry match at Starrcade. JJ brings out his pick for special ref. Bret Hart! And bret gives his first wrestling promo since the screw Job. He says he will be the ref! Eric brings up the 7.5 million a year and how its him and bret for life. Bret says he wont help however! He then talks about being screwed over by a ref! Certainly not the strongest debut. Me thinks WCW is confused what to do with him. idiots.

Lugar and bagwell shit.

Hennig runs down Flair with some shit talk. Flair accepts a challenge in flair country. This storyline is sure stale. NWO ambushes flair. DDP, steiners and others make the save. Flair is hurt. DDP then calls out Hennig. Out comes Hogan, Bischoff and the troops. They beat down DDP. Lights go out! Sting is on the WCW logo. Hogan keeps talking. yada yada yada

Decent enough Nitro. I like it better than Raw because there is actual wrestling :O

Yup! 1998 is by fave wcw year (other than 1989) and 1998 is a pretty great year for WWF

Im skipping the next week to get to WCWs biggest show everrrr (in pay per view buy rate anyway)

This is the co main event apparently. :/ Here comes bret! To a shit theme song. Bischoff comes out with Hall in his corner. Loud Larry chant! IDK what this clusterfuck even isss. It ends with Bischoff tryin to cheat. Bret gets involved and punches Bischoff and puts Hall in sharpshooter! Crowd goes nutsss! entertaining enough for me. 1/5

WCW World title match: Hollywood Hogan v. Sting
Sting as a weird intro with his awesome theme music. Hogan(s ego) controls the match. Bret is out. Hogan hits a legdrop. Then wcw clusterfuck city happens. Hogan gets a 3 count. That is allegedly fast. So bret knocks out the ref. Restarts the match. Sting gets Hogan in a deathlock (sharpshooter!) Sting wins! So hogans politics ruin the match and the moment. Leave it to WCW to fuck up their biggest payoff! 0/5

omg I watched a little bit of XPW a few days ago LOL! Its like the poor mans ECW.

God dammit. I had this whole review written out and then I fucked it up. 😡

For the most part the show STUNK. Guess thats all I'll say.

Im pretty excited for upcoming WCW stuff.

They start by praising WCW and Sting and they bring out the living legend Larry Zybysko who saved Nitro.

Goldberg kicks Glaciers ass in a match to start the show! Hopefully thats the nail in Glaciers coffin.

Gene calls out the newest member of WCW. Bret Hart. Gene says he is glad Bret woke up and smelled the coffee and came to WCW. He says at the PPV Justice prevailed the way it was suppose to. He says the NWO sucks. He says the NWO reminds him of the scum he left behind. Bret runs down some names in wcw and nwo who he wants to go against. He says he has been looking for Hogan for a long time and this time Hogan cannot run or hide.

Raven talks about Benoit is a masochistic. He will keep inflicting pain on him. Benoit takes on Van Hammer. The flock attacks Benoit. McMichael helps him out! Crowd in Baltimore loves it.

Woo! Flair time. Meannnnnn woo! Gene! Flair says Hart is in the big leagues now. Flair says his name wasnt mentioned by Hart earlier. He reads a piece from the Baltimore Sun. "no one goes out and puts on the best show every night, except Flair. and that may make him the greatest ever."

Ultimo Dragon beats Eddie quick for the cruiserweight belt. Stupid quick. Hot potato with that title. They need a savior...

Here comes last nights losers. Hogan and Bischoff. They show Hart restarting the match last night blah blah blah. Hogan says he should still be champ. Bischoff says they will listen to JJs and WCWs suggestions on the problem.

Heenen comes to the announce team and is "back home" lolol.

The new US champ DDP takes on Mortis. Nothing special.

Sting will take on any member of the NWO tonight with the belt on the line.

Disco Inferno takes on Booker T. Booker T wins the TV championship! Titte changes galore tonight.

Bischoff tells JJ Dillon that the Sting vs Hogan rematch wll take place tonight.

Jericho vs Hennig. Nothing special. Jericho is pissed after and throws a tantrum and hits the ring post over ad over with a chair and says he is sick of it! I smell a heel turn!

Hall comes out and takes his survey. Hall says dont worry about the NWO. Theyre here to stay.

Luger gets his revenge on Buff. prolly should have been at the PPV.

Here comes the main event rematch. Sting and Hogan. WCW is fucking this all up. Theres little time left on the show. They brawl and shit...and run out of time. GROAN. How fucking stupid. What other "sport" would end without an actual result.

Soooo all in all it was an exciting show. The wrestling could be better and obviously this whole world title and hogans ego is a clusterfuck. Still better than Raw tho.

Liveeeeeeeee at the Georgia dome in Atlana. 30,000 strong.

According to a "court injunction" they cant show how the Sting-Hogan match ended last week. Stupid.

JJ Dillon is out and says they will get to show the sting-hogan ending on a new WCW show debuting this Thursday called Thunder..

Jericho is out. He apologizes for his actions last week. He says that wasnt the real chris Jericho. He gives announcer Dave Penzer a new chair to sit in and a new tux. He continues to apologize and says it will never happen agayn.
That sets up DDP vs Jericho. DDP makes super quick work of Jericho with a diamond cutter to a HUGE pop. Afterwards Jericho snaps again.

Goldberg makes quick work of Stevie Ray

Bischoff is out and says there are no problems in the NWO.

Juventud and Psychosis. Match is decent enough. Juvi is the #1 contender for the cruiserweight title against Dragon on Thunder.

The new TV champ, Booker defeats Prince.

Wow there are some random ass wrestlers who havent hd a match on nitro since ever on tonight. :/

The half ass horsemen, Benoit and McMichael take on Saturn and Riggs. Some sub par stuff. Kidman and raven end up getting involved.

Flair time! He says Bret Hart has rubbed him wrong for months. Out comes Bret! They shake hands...
Flair asks Bret to say his saying while he is in the same ring as Flair. hehe. Bret says it and has a lil woo for the end of it. ha. He has bret repeat it and so he does. Flair says Bret may thing he is better than all the other but in his heart e cant possibly think he is a better performer than him. Bret says to be the man he has to beat the man and he thinks he has done it before but he will do it again. Flair says he will have to see him try. Flair struts as Bret stares.

That was good shit! And of course WCW was rushing it. *eyeroll* Best part of the night by far.

Main event time. JJ Dillon says Nick Patrick cant be ref. He is still bieng investigated. Because of the "fast" count.

Savage and Luger is the main event. :/ Bischoff tried to take the chair from Savage for some reason and savage laid him out. Hogan comes out and Nash takes out macho. Chaos in the NWO. Nwo try and regroup and hone in on Luger. Out comes Sting!

The show as a whole was quite the MEH. Bret and Flair stuff is gold tho. The show was basially a big infomercial for the first Thunder so that show better fuckin deliver!

Nitro has a million more viewers than Raw at this point.

Austin is shown in the back and says he will get to people tonight before they can get to him in the royal rumble.

We start with Farooq vs Shamrock. Rock volunteered Farooq for this match. And Rocky eventually comes out during the match. Decent first match. After the match Austin comes out and stuns them both!

Cornette brings out NWA president. They shall put the NWA title on the line tonight.
Barry Windham vs Jeff Jarrett is that match. Cornette wants to bring real wraslin back to the WWF. Good for him. But after Cornettes bitching we get a cheating win. :/ And then Jarretts reward for his "big" win is a stunner from Austin. Groan.

A shitty tag match follows that.

DX is next. Triple H is still chingered. He says he is gonna hunt Owen. Sexual innuendos follow. Owen is on the titan tron and he is gonna break Hunters legs.

Owen and Savio is the next match. Nothing special. After Savio and the gang beat him down and deliver him to Hunter who slaps him around a bit. Gerald Brisco is out after in an awful sweater.

Paul Bearer is out goes on and on about his hatred for Taker since he seems to have lost Kane.

The skit where HBK is dressed in the ring as a fake Undertaker from behind then the DX music hits and he starts gyrating/dancing in the ring is classic though. I don't know what week that was but I imagine it's in the buildup to this Rumble.
