The special Olympics

Funding for public schools

Funding for black colleges

But don't worry y'all she will increase funding for... You guess it the voucher program where you will have a "choice" to send your child to a private school where she will

NOT HOLD THESE SCHOOLS ACCOUNTABLE

NOT ENFORCE TITLE IX( which are the protection of discrimination on the basis of sex)

At one point a congressmen says "is there ANY scenario that you would protect students from discrimination.. Black, gay..etc.. Would you protect our students as the Secretary of education

She said NO SHE WOULD LEAVE IT UP TO THE STATES

Will you protect our students that have disabilities mental and physical she said NO I WOULD LEAVE IT UP TO THE STATES

A lot of what goes on in public schools SHOULD be left to the states.

Why should black colleges be any more special than "white" colleges? Or a college in a predominantly Asian community, like a number of community colleges in So Cal. where I grew up? Or a college attended by ALL KINDS of different people?

Why should the feds hold private schools accountable? That is the jurisdiction of the state the school is located in.

It is not the job of the feds to protect students from discrimination. That needs to be handled at the local level (city/county/state) FIRST. Reparations should come from their, FIRST.

What democrats fail to remember is that the feds overstep their reach when it comes to public education. And, trust me, there's more to worry about in public schools besides "diversity" and allowing kids to use the bathroom of their choice, etc.

As for disabled students, they are protected by the IDEA. THAT, the feds do have jurisdiction and enforcement over. Special Olympics isn't covered under the IDEA. She would be wrong to say that "protecting" disabled students is SOLEY up to the states, but then again, what exactly are we talking about here when we say "protecting."

Personal I don't believe that things like discrimination laws should vary from state to state that's NUTS... Discrimination is discrimination is discrimination it doesn't matter if it's I'm Alabama or California..

every single school should be held accountable every last one of them. Public and private.. Children should be tested to make sure they are learning... Curriculum should be updated and teacher should have to have proper training--thats the point of school is to LEARN...

The black college thing... I bring it up cause she has spoke of support of black colleges publicly but her budget is COMPLETELY the opposite of that

taking away the special Olympics is just shitty thing to do in my opinion.

Well that is the beauty and sometimes the downfall of living in this great constitutional republic; laws not outlined in the Constitution are left up to the states. Still, there are federal laws against discrimination.

The thing is teachers are trained. Everyone out there who does not work in education thinks they know better than the teacher actually doing the teaching. Curriculum IS updates. I don't know how much you can update the theory of 1 + 1 equals 2. And teachers are taught to teach. That parents out there, and other people are so self-righteous that they think teachers don't know anything, well, there's a whole bunch of other classes and schools you can put your kid into when you decide you don't like their teacher. Right? Right.

Testing has gotten ridiculous. But, it's what you people want. Sometimes you just gotta give the people what they want. Even if the test itself is bull shit.

As for the Special Olympics, that's been relying on grants, and all kinds of help for YEARS now. But again, there is nothing requiring the Feds to fund it.

Feds don't even fund special education properly. Not when Obama was president, nor Bush. How can we expect them to fund anything else adequately?
