It's lost on you what with your inane sense of humour. You need to lighten up. Pun not intended.

20 million people died in Russia alone as the result of bolshevism, do you really care..?

I understand why people are upset over this...makes perfect sense. BUT that doesn't mean I don't think they're very misinformed and misguided in their reasoning behind their emotions.

I think it's a great thing, to have a place of worship right next to the site. I'm sure many muslims died there too so why not? The fact that the war had nothing to do with Islam is probably the best answer!

It's funny how "we americans" have been mentioned in this thread at least a half dozen times without any consideration for the fact there are many "americans" who are Muslim.
What exactly is the definition of an American? Really?

Posted by brianafay
It's sad that the majority of Americans truly and wholeheartedly believe this is a Muslim vs. Christian war (as LS previously noted.)Because that could really not be further from the truth.
But that just goes to show easily American's are manipulated by the media and politicians. :/
Not to mention the fact that 85% of the country still hasn't woken up and realized Iraq/Iran/Afghanistan never had a single thing to do with the attacks on the WTC.
I don't mean to sound condescending when I say I feel bad for them...because I really mean it. I don't think I'm above anyone, or of higher intelligence or anything. It just really seems the majority has accepted being misinformed and misguided, and has taken little initiative to search for truth on their own. Too many people watch TV to become "informed" on current events. Wrong, so wrong. 😢

Not to mention, these men were extreme nationalists. They could have done it for the sake of their country - martyrdom

@tubbyscubby,
The mainstream majority "discourse" on Islam and Muslims in America is one of xenoophobic ignorance, or a studied hatred of Islam despite knowledge of the religion and its adherents. Not only have you swallowed it wholesale, you peddle it in this forum for the sake of entertainment. And that further obstructs understanding and progress.
*nods*
& for someone who harps on minorities and prejudice all the time - calling people ignorant and racist... I see a certain familiar mindsetclick to expand
