Gay people & Stds

Recently, a reporter who was responding to the controversey surrounded around Obama & why he won't directly address whether or not he supports gay marriage, said something very ignorant & alarming

She said, "Gay people are the reason for why the HIV rate is so high. Gay people are more promiscious, therefore they are the major carriers of most stds compared to the average straight person. And the gay people who are still on the downlow make things even worse since they're dipping in & out of both genders, all b/c they're not brave enough to come out of the closet. Their love isn't real b/c marriage was supposed to be b/w a man & a woman."

FIRST OFF:
1. Gay love is the same love that all straight people experience. Gay people have/use the same standards to find/keep their mates in the same manner that straight people do

2. People have the ignorant misconception that gay people are sexually-starved creatures & that sex is the only depth of their relationships. Yes, gay people have sex just like everyone else, BUT they love the aspect of love/relationships too.

3. Homosexuality isn't the only thing God protests against in the bible. He ALSO claims to hate those who judge others. And I'd be willing to bet that 99% of the people who "hate gays" have probably broken 6 of the 10 commandments on a daily basis! In other words, the pot can't call the kettle black (hypocrite). Being a "Christian/Catholic" when it's conveinant aint gonna cut it. To for 1 of God's "rules" means to be for ALL of them & most of the people who discriminate against gays aren't living the most righteous life style themselves

4. Someone else's marriage/relationship shouldn't/WON'T affect whatever is going on in MY life

5. Even if they continued to ban gay marriage, that still wouldn't change the fact that gay people are already gay! Sure, maybe they aren't married, but they still have long-lasting & successful relationships.

6. People IN GENERAL & anyone with sexual organs PERIOD needs to learn how to keep their legs closed, get their monthly checkups & use protection...NOT just gay people!

7. If we're gonna be against gay marriage (since God hates it) we should also be advocating for the ban of marriages that involve 1 or both people who have cheated (adultery), lied or purposely harmed the other.

Sure some people may wonder skeptically how such a criminal landed such a faithful/loyal partner, BUT if you notice you never hear the onlookers complaining. They shrug it off & say "Well that's them, their business & besides, their marriage/relationship doesn't affect me."


HOWEVER,

If there's 1 thing I will say about homosexuals that sometimes bothers me is that I don't quite understand why they feel it's ok to have a "dislike list" or issues that they regularly advocate, but yet feel so hated when others are doing the same thing that just so happens to involve them & their choice of life style ?

99% of the issues advocated involve life style s that SOMEONE is living...someone is bound to be offended or feel discriminated against, whether it's a gay person, african-american, PETA enemy, etc.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a solid Christian not approving of gay marriage or gay anything, no different than there's nothing wrong with a gay person claiming to hate adulters or anything else that their religion tells them to stay away from.

The PROBLEM though is when people start taking it personal & making another couple's issues, their own.

I'm completely against hate crimes & discrimination of any kind but I'm NOT against people standing up for what they believe in as long as them advocating doesn't hurt, harm or belittle others.
