Interesting perspectives to but share. . .

—Let there be spaces in your togetherness, And let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf. Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone, Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music. Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together, yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.??

—When love beckons to you follow him, Though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you yield to him, Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you. And when he speaks to you believe in him, Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden. For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning. Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth......

But if in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure, Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor, Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears. Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.

Love possesses not nor would it be possessed; For love is sufficient unto love. And think not you can direct the course of love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course. Love has no other desire but to fulfil itself."

But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires: To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To know the pain of too much tenderness. To be wounded by your own understanding of love; And to bleed willingly and joyfully.??

People have been trying to define what "love" means for ages.

What 1 person believes to be "love" is what another person swear is the opposite of love

Love means different things to different people.

There are plenty of people who are possessive (for example) that swear AND believe that they are experiencing love. However, there's another person across the street claiming that the simple fact that there is possession involved at all means that it is clearly not love. But if you ask both couples if they believe they love each other, BOTH will say yes. And BOTH will believe what they're saying.

That's why I hate the term "puppy love." As adults, we knock the youngins who are going about love for the 1st time. We minimize their feelings w/o realizing that how they feel is VERY real & very much so feels just as fulfilling & like "love" as the people/couples who are 20 years older than them.

We mess up the minute we try convincing ourselves that love isn't love unless it's unconditional. There's no such thing as unconditional love b/c "conditions" start when you 1st meet someone. They have to be your type, or say the right things or have things about them that attract you to them. Those are called "conditions," ...i.e meaning that if certain factors aren't there, love let alone a romantic spark would not even have been established or able to get off the ground

They have to treat you right, open up to you, trust you/show they're trustworthy, etc. Those are conditions.

If unconditional love was possible then physical, emotional, spiritual & sexual attraction wouldn't matter. But they do matter b/c there are absolutely "conditions" that need to be there in order for a connection to be established, let alone for love to build

And there's nothing wrong with that! Why are we so afraid & apologetic for sometimes not wanting to put up with or accept certain things? Some things are just not ok. Some things are just not acceptable.

If everyone accepted everyone for their flaws & all, you'd have a lot more broken relationships/people in the world b/c not ever having to be held accountable or suffering consequences for being/doing something negative would give no incentive to those who need to change. The worst thing you can do is enable a Narcissist to continue being narcissistic by telling them that who they are/what they do is Ok (just an example)

Love can be fulfilling w/o the 2 people in it being perfect.

- a delicate balance between independence and desire. two individuals who are in love should maintain their individuality, or you lose what inspired love in the first place.

-love isn't all a bed of roses. it can be a meditation on pain as much as it is cloud nine.

-just like time, love isn't something you can possess. you can only thrive or be defeated within it.

that's how i understand that excerpt. and i agree with it. it's very poetic, thanks for sharing!

to me... love, in general, is like a public event. you go, hoping it will be great, but the experience all depends on the company, the attitude of the company and their contributions, emotional or physical ??_including your own. it's not anything we can control singularly. for love to be great, we look to ourselves and the company. we do what we can and hope the company holds up their end. i don't mean for this analogy to suggest polyamory??_ i'm just talking about two entities.

however, i think it's easy to forget that love is also something we have the ability to create within ourselves and to give from ourselves. our own love we have all the control over??_ and if we wanted, it could be a wellspring. love doesn't always have to be an exchange.

This part very much spoke to my Venus. It fears the thought of losing its freedom, but desires a deep connection that moves and continues to flow.

The rest---a scary truth that requires more reflection.
