When do you think a couple should move in together?? I friend told me today she would never move in with his bf unless there is a wedding date...

Insights, thoughts?? Please 🙂

"I like my space, and if I'm going to share it it might as well be with someone I'm married to.

I don't view it as: "if I'm sharing my space with someone, I might as well be married to them" anymore. That way of thinking just seems to backwards to me now."

^^^^ Makes a lot of sense!!

For me, I'd not move in with someone unless I'd marry them tomorrow.

First time around, I was engaged prior to moving in.
This time, not engaged but I consider him marrying material and as long as it goes smoothly, it's only a matter of time before that happens anyway.

What about the whole you don't know someone until you live with them thing.... :/

Although it could be true, I always felt that is a lie told by noncomittal people who use it as an excuse not to get married. It's become mainstream attitude today.

I'm not for or against living together, but personally, I wouldn't unless we were getting married.

I think that's a load of nonsense. You might not know everything about them, but if you have been dating someone for a while, long enough to consider marriage, you have enough information about them to make an informed decision.

Living unmarried has worked for me so far....
First relationship was live in for five years overall eight years together... I think by the time we broke up we had been "married" and "divorced"....just as much as other people...
In fact, that was longer than some marriages these days.
And being married wouldn't have solved the issues that eventually separated us anyway... We are still the very best of friends might I add.

And now, some people here may know the story- but live in with current relationship is hard, far harder, but being unmarried in no way is a reflection of our commitment to each other in terms of making a real go of it.
All up I quite enjoy and value the experience...
Marriage is a beautiful thing too, and I respect the values and merits of it as an institution for individuals and family.

It just holds no significance for me right now.
