well, the only one that could be accused of being anal retentive is me ... and yes I have a grin on my face right now 😉

it's not about the objective impartial thing ... it's about: she has gone to school for freaking years to get a PhD in psychology, so she has some tools and training that your average friend is not going to have. But ya, I totally get your "I don't need a shrink" thing ... that was me just a few days ago.

but it pretty cool dating her too, she's still a normal woman ... just as crazy and fucked up as all(lol). So that's kinda cool 'cause she will have the normal emotional responses to things that a guy just doesn't understand ... but later we get to talk about things like little scientists. very enlightening.

yes, those things may do just fine for you.

for me it went like this ... she said, "this is your problem: blah, blah, blah." Then she didn't buy any of my excuses ... then she pointed me in the right direction for what I need to do to fix it, and said if I was ready, she would support me. Guess I'm finally ready 'cause it was an easy sell ... even though its something so personal that I won't even be telling you guys what it is ... lol, and I usually don't care what I say here 'cause i'm anonymous.

oh, psychiatry is different ... they prescribe medicine ... psychologists just figure out if you need medicine or talking to

She's Aquarius .. 2nd in a row now for me. haha, i was disappointed at first 'cause I wanted to add a new sign ... how shallow of me. oh but wow, an Aquarius' in bed, can't complain about that.

sure I knew my problem, and tried to fix it before ... but I was always still able to blame something or someone else, make excuses etc. which took the imperative off changing just enough for me to give up when it got tough.

Now it's black and white, my problem to deal with, it's just do it time ... like after a 1st heart attack and a doctor tells you to quit smoking or die.

Is she a keeper? lol, yes, but I could see myself being the "dumpee" this time around too. Haha, it's about my turn I guess. It's still a valuable relationship ... hopefully for both of us.

wow..I had to chime in 🙂 so I'm a shrink.. see.. a shrink is someone that will help you get rid of the all the junk going through your mind through talk therapy, therefore "shrinking" your head, so it could go for psychologists or chiatrists..however I would really hate to be the care provider for a man I'm dating..that would truly suck.. Just sayin..

@saroph ... funny you should mention that. I was helping her study for one of the licensing exams, and in the ethics stuff it spells that situation out. lol .... Thou shalt not start a romantic relationship with someone in your care, and thou shalt not discontinue a patient in order to begin a romantic relationship, blah, blah, blah.

Haha, fortunately it's OK for her give me free advice ... although, she's kind of a rule breaker. If she met me as a client of hers, I could see her dating me anyway. There must be some weird chemistry between us. We met at a Denny's restaurant, totally random, at 8am in the morning.

Sounds cute 🙂 there is no way I would get involved with a patient..but besides that some men find it fun to talk about psychology/thoughts/feelings and don't get defensive about it which is cool! But I would really hate to find myself in a position where I have to maintain my mate's sanity lol!

lol, aquaj, the hard part for you will be convincing him to go in. Some docs may do a free 30 min evaluation for new clients. Shop around, maybe you could find one like that and get him started with the "well it's free anyway" part. My gf can usually tell what someone's problem is after an initial session and refer them to psychiatric if needed.

Last year, my nephew went bat-ass crazy. His mom had to call the police and after 3 months in jail they got him the help he needed. He was bipolar or something like that, but never knew. It was something he had all along, but it just got way worse as he got older and had times of stress. Now he's on meds. and doing just fine. So, if someone is having real issues, better to be proactive about it.

lol, I'm too proud. Buutttt... now I'm dating one. She's "fixing" me, and I like it. Probably should have gone to therapy long time ago.

lol! 🙂 Just think of all the money you'll save not having to make appts and such

i dunno about that. Psychology aside, she's hot, and hot girls make me forget about money ... dinners, flowers, weekend getaways ... yup, not exactly saving any money here.

@ HW ... fyi, A lot of shrinks have big time student loans to pay back, and if they take low income patients, the govt. helps with their loans. so, money shouldn't be an issue if you need help ... just have to take the time to figure out what is available were you are.

@Sag89 ... yep, I kinda like our 'meet' story. I don't think she would tell it the same way as me though. I was with a friend, my son, and his son. My friend did most of the talking, got her number, and set up the first "hang out for drinks later". Haha, but i think she was just kinda using him to get to me. It was the easiest time I've ever had meeting a girl, and I wasn't even trying to meet anyone.
