If time travel were possible, we would have already been visited by our future selves.

Since we haven't been visited by the future selves (time travel isn't possible), we can assume that the earth undergoes a cataclysmic event that ends life as we know it.

What inspired this thread?

Been watching a lot of space and physics stuff lately.

I was curious to know if it had anything to do with the Harvard professor everyone has been talking about lately.

Which also reminds me, I have to wrap up Neil deGrasse Tyson’s Cosmos.

If time travel was possible on a singular timeline, you could accomplish nothing that would prevent you from traveling in the future in the future.

What if time travel is possible and your future self is chilling in the Bahamas right now?

Technically, time travel is possible.. but only future time travel, by means of traveling closer to the speed of light.

I suppose I should have clarified time travel in the past.

If time travel ever becomes possible than that means we can be in more than one place at a time and I would love for that to be a thing.

Can you imagine having multiple versions of your life at one time? That gets me excited. lol

That includes the worst versions of your life.

time is relative. Time travel by going fast is funny as hell when you think of it.

No no I get you. If time travel ever becomes possible on a commercial level, I guarantee people would do it for vacation lol.

I personally would not go to any time before toilet paper, bathing, and a functional sewer system. Apparently everyone and cities stunk very very very bad back then. No thanks you!

Yep. As an astronaut, you're essentially giving up any life you had on Earth, just to travel closer to the speed of light.

How do you know the you from the future would even look like you? Do you think they would make it that obvious? Imo it is possible they could either shapeshift as a means of protecting the fabric of reality, or they could perhaps even come in the form of AI in some way. Anything that connects with you mentally. It doesn't have to be mentally and physically at the same time. So maybe they could even come in a dream, which is why people sometimes predict the future or see an altered world in their dreams.

It's also possible that time travel would rip reality into two paths every single time it happens. So on one path you did meet your future self, which created two paths within space and time. One reality met your future self, and one you never did. The you that didn't would never be able to see the difference, while the you that did would continue living knowing they did.

It's all philosophy which no science whatsoever to back it up. I really enjoy it nonetheless.
