The United States cannot afford to bail out everyone. Hence, nobody can be bailed out because of the resentment it causes to those who are not bailed out.

Every single Congressperson has been bombarded on this Wall Street bailout issue with 99.9% of their constituents angry and opposed. Reps in competitive districts voted against this plan; those who didn't will lose. Some reps in moderately safe districts who voted for this committed political suicide, and they will be gone.
