It comes from personal experience...
I had the difficult task of trying to be friends with my ex because we are so close, but at the time I still wanted him so it was so hard to keep control of my emotions so not even I could tell when I would "erupt" or give way to those emotions. Thankfully I am over him so we can be friends without "eruptions" haha

I'm friends w/ women who I find attractive & would not smash any of them for various reasons. Not to say I wouldn't mind, but I won't because it's simply not like that.

I'm sorry to tell you this mamita, pero (but) this guy sounds like he is using you just to reassure his own feelings; before he take the big leap of faith.....marriage. You may also, be doing the same thing with him, in a subconscious level, and may not even notice it. Of course they can, there are plenty of people who have control over themselves.

If there's a reason for them to not want to cross a boundary then it probably counts on how much they care about that reason. Otherwise why hold back?

Thank god...i dont find any of my partner mates attractive.
I do have guys as mates but there was never a mutual attraction @ the beginning. So i guess the party who was attracted learned to accept the hand of friendship or nothing. 🙂

It is possible? Absolutely. But is a strictly platonic friendship often the result of opposite sex friendships? Most likely NOT.

It all depends on HOW each person picks their "friends." If you're picking your so called "Friends" like you would someone you'd consider a mate/companion, there's a HIGHER liklihood that the friendship won't be platonic the whole time. Yeah maybe in the beginning, but eventually someone will start liking the other person or perhaps even grow feelings.

Plus, if you're doing/saying things to/with your "strictly friends" that you'd normally only do with your companion, there's a higher liklihood that the friendship won't be platonic for long.

1 of my friend always wonders why she can't ever maintain platonic friendships with males. What she doesn't realize is that she picks her male friends in the same way she would persay she was looking for a boyfriend. For instance, why should it matter if he's hot/sexy if he's "just a friend?" Why should it matter if he's got a girlfriend already if your intention is to strictly befriend them? Technically, she shouldn't have to worry about that or be intimidated by that if she plans on just being his platonic "friend."

Friend zone is rape zone to men. Come on we all know this...

Okay, I'm reposting this in case anyone thinks I want to bang my friends. You can notice people are attractive without wanting to do anything about it.

sexually attracted? Nah... I mean the only way this could work out is if you really don't physically see each other like that like that - then it's cool. Because if you see the person a LOT and have alone time with them, eventually your bodies may start to work around what you're mentally trying to suppress and find a way to have physical contact with that other person and if that starts happening... it's just a matter of time.

Well I guess I should say it's not my definition of 'just friends'.. since everyone has their own definition of what 'just friends' are. Like for myself, I won't have sex with anyone unless I'm in a serious relationship with them, so I wouldn't be able to have sex with just a friend. To me love and sex goes hand in hand.

With the Leo... (you know which one I'm talking about) when he started dating someone else I just kept treating him the same as I always have...just not expecting much of anything from him (not that I ever really did.)
I mean, I don't drunk text him anymore for obvious reasons (although he never even told me he was seeing someone so it's not like I should be aware of any boundaries to respect,) and don't initiate much contact with him anymore, besides when I see him in class. Any time we text it's because he initiates it now.

I'm very attracted to him, obviously, but I don't think it's a reason to start ignoring him...
He's a nice guy and he makes me laugh.

I won't not be his friend just because he has a dick and I wouldn't mind...but can't anymore because he's taken...Lol
