Get A Life

Why must you sleep
When your heart is awake?
Open your eyes and see the new day.
Yesterday is spent, and
The memories are well paid for;
Tomorrow holds no claim;
Just be glad for the hour.
Rest if you must,
but Time does not wait;
We are here for a moment
Our future is fate.
Let the day unfold by the minute,
so spend it wisely;
The end comes too soon
There is a limit.
Times is not ours,
it belongs to no man;
It is a gift for now,
So make the most of it
while you can!

RELUCTANCE

Out through the fields and the woods
And over the walls I have wended;
I have climbed the hills of view
And looked at the world, and descended;
I have come by the highway home.
And lo, it is ended.

The leaves are all dead on the ground,
Save those that the oak is keeping
To ravel them one by one
And let them go scraping and creeping
Out over the crusted snow,
When others are sleeping.

And the dead leave lie huddled and still, Now longer blonw hither and thither;
The last lone aster is gone;
The flowers of the witch hazel wither;
The heart is still aching to seek,
But the feet queston "Whither?"

Ah, when to the heart of man
Was it ever less than a treason
To go with the drift of things,
To yield with a grace to reason,
And bow and accept the end
Of a love or a season?

Thanks for the flowers, Phoenix. I will consider what you said.

True story. When I graduated this spring from college, I treated myself with a new Dell 7200. I packed the old relick of a puter into the boxes from the new computer. Afterr transfering my files on to floppy disks; I donated the old puter to the Salvation Army. All the stuff I had written poems, love letters, sonnets etc. were on 3 1/2" disk, so I thought!!! The disks were lost and the computer was sold!!!! Uhg! Last thing I ever felt like doing again was writing anything ever again!!! I was sick! It wasn't until today that I wrote anything and that was 3 months ago. Today I got started and couldn't stop! It was like a wild fire. I am still torn up about the lose because it was my heart, and it felt like part of me was missing. Oh well, such is life, I guess?! I heard a beautiful song this morning, and it stayed with me all day. It is by an artist named Maxwell and the song is 'Lifetime' that is what set the mood for me, along with some very seductive daydreams about a man I love! Listen to it if you get a chance.

Susan, your story broke my heart, but I want you to know you are not alone. I have a certain Taurus "friend" (ha), who had everything he ever wrote in his CAR of all places (guess he thought it was more safe from prying eyes there or something). He moved from Medford, OR to Portland, OR a couple years ago (since then has moved back here to Medford). Within a few months of getting settled up there in p-town, his car was broken into and stolen...along with every single special thing he'd ever written. He was devastated of course. Since then he says it has been soooo hard for him to write anything at all. I will tell you the same thing I told him: everything that WAS in your heart and soul, is still there. You have memories of what you wrote, so sit down and try to get it out once again. I know it's not quite the same, but this time around with some persepective, it might even be better. Everything you wrote is still within you. Perhaps it was in God's Plan or the Universe's Plan that your previous writings were lost. There could be a reason for it.

Don't ever stop writing! Chin up, and goodnight! : )
