Okay I'm relatively new to soccer, as I said before

But am I the only one who thinks that Christiano Ronaldo is, kind of like, a little cookiemonster?

This could be his last WC as he will be 37 in the next WC.

Nah doubt it, Ronald is a machine with his work ethics. Plus I can see the longevity like the Tennis players= Federer, Nadal & Serena. Sports science is very advanced these days

A few days ago i heard his physical check-up revealed he has a body of a 23-year old, if judging by muscle mass in relation to overall mass.

37 is old in football, especially striker. I couldn't even name who's still good at that age comparably to their younger years.

Even 33 is old. But Ronaldo is a special.

Agreed that’s super old, but this is Ronaldo. I can see Messi giving up national team by then but Ronaldo may sit on the bench and come on as substitute. He wants those records more than anything

He's been around since 2006. It will be his fifth WC in 2022. That record?

Interestingly Messi is two years younger than Ronaldo but I can see it even now that both players are regressing.

I think we are progressing in the knowledge of the body, and he is an elite athlete that has access to so much that I’m sure he can find a way. I don’t think he’ll be able to run for 90mins but might become the type of player like Pirlo that can make magic happen at a slower pace 😂
Plus a lot of football commentators are saying he is more fit than ever before. As for Messi I really hope he carries on as you’ve said he’s younger, not sure about his drive. He’s less of a showmasn and more of a natural talent. I like that Ronaldo and Messi push each other to be better.

Ronaldo is rarely injured. That's a big plus.

Yes as a substitute. Particularly if Portugal don't have any good strikers upfront which they're always don't lol

Messi is a lazy Cancer 😜😜😜😜😜😜 like Zidane. He's retired from football at age 33 I believe.

Well, he has a point, 37 is old.

We can see on this WC how old teams are falling out, first Germany (who won the Confederation cup last year or something like that with the youngsters, but chose to take old school players to this WC), Argentina and then Portugal. Football is a running game first, only then a shooting game.

Yes some players are oddly better when they're old like Dario Hubner.

But to constantly good since teenage are very rare.

37 is defo old but if anyone can do it then it’s Ronaldo, doesn’t mean Portugal will win tho.

Yeah Germany isn’t hungry for it like they were 8-10years ago. They were breeding the young talent when Klinsman started the program. Like what England are trying to do now, we’re prepping for the Euro 2020 and then the World Cup

Don't need to be a football fans to know that he's the best player in the pitch. Bossing the midfield for France.

Yes as a substitute. Particularly if Portugal don't have any good strikers upfront which they're always don't lol

Messi is a lazy Cancer 😜😜😜😜😜😜 like Zidane. He's retired from football at age 33 I believe.

Hey!! Messi is still playing for Barca isn’t he? 😛 still in his prime and don’t even start on Zidane cos I love him especially when he played at Juve Haha

I like Zidane too. My favorite is in finale Euro 2000 France-Italy (YouTube still has that in full game I think).

Don't need to be a football fans to know that he's the best player in the pitch. Bossing the midfield for France.

Yes I remember those day 🤩 when France we actually really good. Although they did good today as well, I haven’t seen them be a team for a while

No idea how it will go. We’ve not had to play a quality team yet (not counting the Belgium match due to all of the team changes). Also some teams have underperformed. Colombia looked quite good though.

Oh yeah thanks for reminding me. I think Totti also played in his late 30’s 37 or something 🤔

Totti retired at 40 but in his last 3 / 4 years it became just painful to see him start.

Oh wow, that’s sad to see. I wonder why the manger would keep him in the starting line up?? Weird

Because Totti at Roma was sadly bigger than the club itself. So whenever a manager would dare bench him, from radios and irrational supportes, a shitstorm would fly in his direction because "how dare you wanting to play 11 vs 11 against Juventus" lmao

His last in Uefa Champions League at 38 was class though

I dunno how they have managed it but Spain are even more boring than they've ever been.

it's really amazing going from tiki taka back to...Spain 2006 in like a few years only

That, yes, but tiki taka was boring as hell for me, too.

It became boring because Spain was dominating too much I guess

But yes, it can become boring when you try to whisper the ball into the goal instead of using shots, crosses, header etc

It was them trying to keep the ball and save energy.

Don't get me wrong it was smart. I can't argue with the trophies they won. But (my personal opinion) it wasn't fun to watch. I prefer direct teams that score goals.

I understand that. Even Germany doesn't use crosses, shots or headers anymore, they try to keep the ball in the midfield which is why imo they couldn't even beat South Corea.
