When I get in a rut...

I like to marinate in that rut. Maybe even dig it deeper by indulging in some self pity, regret, bitterness towards God, philosophical reflection on the absurdity of life, etc. Basically I work at it until I have obliterated any sense of meaning, purpose, or hope - to where I no longer have any desire to exist. And then I just get numb. That numbness is golden, because once I get there I really don't care about anything. I just accept that things are what they are - no more regret, bitterness, anger....Everything just...is. Its like a manic depressive form of Buddhism. A somewhat dark path towards acceptance. Doesn't matter how you get there really....

Was there three weeks ago. Asked to be shown how to live n things just started moving. Trip invites, new experiences, celebrations. I think it is accepting the down n realize it's cycles of nothingness then movement.

LOL, I mean, I don't recommend that process. I am just having a bad day and was being cynical. Sometimes though, I do think you have to experience the rock-bottom negative emotions....I agree though. That's a key for coping with dark times for me - the realization that its only temporary and just part of life. When you are *in* the rut, its hard to see your way out of it. It feels permanent. Then your mood changes, the next week is totally different, and you don't even remember the dark times...
