i saw this and i didnt realize how horrible this syndrome was.

when i heard about chronic fatigue i thought..well, they're just tired all the time.

but then i saw bits of this and saw how she struggled even to climb the stairs on her hands and knees and at the top of the stairs had to lay down.

she spent years in bed, because she can't get up.

and it happens to alot of women.

why is this?

her case is extreme

could be caused by a number of things:

viral infections, weak immune system, hormones, stress, depression, etc.

they say yoga or acupuncture might help though
there was a case in the show, (during her incarceration in bed she searched online for many who have this) there was a girl in england who was in bed since she was 14 years old, and she had her birthday till she was i think 22 or 23 years old laying in bed. her parents celebrating with cake and champagne. She lives in this lovely english home (so they're well off) as i can see they're not living in a shoddy flat. And in her early 20s, she was already acquiring bone loss like that of a 60 year old man/woman.

oh in both cases, they both had a severe FEVER...which must have done something to cause it.

yeah the doctors said its in their mind, but it has alot more to do with it.

I have a couple of friends with this condition, a Cap and a Gemini. It's called fibromyalgia.

They were both diagnosed with it more than a decade ago, but there is a contrast in how they dealt with it.

The Cap put herself through physiotherapy, quit smoking, went for acupunctures, changed her diet and general life style . To date she's a regular for marathons, doesn't complain about the pain she has to endure (i've actually never heard her complain).

The Gemini on the other hand, seems as if her condition deteriorated over time, over the last 10 years. Some days she can barely walk and has to be in a wheelchair because the radiating pain gets too much for her.

I suspect the Gemini's condition may be much worse than she's really letting us know.

that's interesting because the lady in the video was very active she used to go on vacation with her husband alot, they met in college...

she was super ambitious type, even what she said, that she wanted to eat the world whole when she was little.

then for a few years she lay in bed while her husband cared for her (i thought that was great he was there consistently ..cooking and feeding her and even had to help shower and bathe her and drive her to the doctors, he was a good husband/caretaker)

something must have triggered ....it effects the immune system

and it was in those cases when the young women got a high fever, very ill.

when I was in Hawaii I would be able to walk around all day. I was up early, slept early, I was happy.

I move back to my cold ass state.... now I can barely get up, im tired all the time, I nap all the time, im cold all the time and I feel so fatigue as if no sleep can stop me.

the change happened instantly when I got back
could it be just the winter weather in your case?

the lack of sunlight is enough to cause depression.

i get really fatigued when i started to work out this week and i slept like a baby.

online i read that the computer screen and tv screen helps give you insomnia...it's there to keep you awake, so more $ $ for them.

Our study shows that a two-hour exposure to light from self-luminous electronic displays can suppress melatonin by about 22 percent," says associate professor Mariana Figueiro.

"Stimulating the human circadian system to this level may affect sleep in those using the devices prior to bedtime."

The team gave 13 people a tablet to read, play games, and watch movies. They discovered that the duration of exposure and the distance between the eye and the display, which determines the amount of light reaching the back of the eye, affects melatonin levels.

I think its just another way to tell people, who have extreme expectations on you... or if you have extreme expectations on yourself

In my case, I call it lazyness and low blow pressure, and I own it

but some people are happier, if they have a "diagnosis" and a "medical" term to confirm it, so they can hide behind it

PS. victim mentality and overworking

well i think it's the fact with the speaker in the video she was super ambitioius and yes maybe you're right...

that people around her expected her to be this and that and to do that...obviously she is a Harvard PHD

and then she traveled everywhere but maybe she can't take it anymore

the body shuts down and it is screaming for help

this really happens if you are pushing yourself and you dont know your limitations.

yes i know there are people who have bodies and immune systems like a football player or marathon runner but let's face it...not everyone can do it.

there's also been plenty of race/culture factors into it as well.

if a person needs to rest and be lazy let them be, to catch up.

have you actually watched the video? she actually can't get up. and some lose bone loss and have osteoporosis like a old person.

NO not laziness

The pain is real

The tiredness is real yet

I wake n go to work everyday

Despite a flare up

I just learn I might have to cancel on people

Not do as much

I know its the sunlight for sure, or at least part of it. you can't sleep late when the sun is in your face by 8 in the morning n the whole house warms up.

I know theres seasonal depression but I think I went back to feeling the fatigue too fast

I think the cold is another thing, as your body temp drops it prepares you to sleep. thats why you sleep better in a cold environment and since its cold ur in ur bed most of the time so napping is easy

I am conservative in some cases, so I call it laziness 🙂 I myself is extremely lazy, so I observe people, who think they should do something and they dont do it......what is wrong with laziness nowadays? 🙂 everybody is supposed to work and perform and give they best 200 % ..... not possible

either you expect the 200 % from yourself, or some other people expect it from you...

I know what you mean, its a struggle every day... but I refuse to put a medical term on it, its lazy 🙂

own it

Lady Gaga is expected to work and perform and give everything.... I am not surprised she is exhausted and given her introverted nature, it must be hard

the struggle is real, but labeling it with some "syndrom".... hm..... NO 🙂

well it is.

and no it's not lazyness.

lazyness is just not doing anythng....meaning you have the power to get up everyday, but you dont do anything like cleaning or helping people, or helping yourself, or just doing anything.

lazyness is just sitting on the couch and ordering pizza and changing channels,

hmm sounds like Al Bundy.lol

but if that's what he wants to do so what?? what does it matter?

anyway, in her case she wants to do stuff but she ignores what her body is telling her to do which is take a break.

This (link below) is a forum dedicated to CFS. Many members seek alternate testing and therapies that work well. Often the underlying issues are discovered to be latent infection, genetic polymorphisms and mitochondrial disfunction. Often, intensive supplement therapy and diet modifications do a lot to alleviate symptoms. Many people have other chronic conditions that are subclinical that doctors will overlook or misdiagnose/under treat, specifically underactive thyroid or silent celiac and other food sensitivities Not to say that the treatment for those will fix fibro or CFS, but in a lot of cases it helps tremendously. In some, it completely eliminates symptoms.

"this really happens if you are pushing yourself and you dont know your limitations."

exactly this senctence

or you take yourself (not you OP!) so seriously, that every "made-up" condition fits you well to tell it recorded on a video.... from a PHD?.... I mean, how lame is that? victim mentality, I cant help it

if there is a pressure on you, name it, analyze it, offer your solution... just dont play a victim... If I am tired of something, are people, who are moaning and didnt yet realise what is the cause of their sufferings... themselves..... that you dont know your limitations....

dont hide behind it

name it (for your personal development) and own it

PS. Actually, its a good thing you brought this up, obviously its different in case of VIP people, whose every step is watched and dissected and analyzed by media and ordinary people, who go on public camera to tell, they are not fit for that environment... but....
