Interpreting Jokes About Infidelity in Relationships

Jokes about infidelity can indicate underlying insecurity or playful teasing, but they may also suggest tolerance for unfaithfulness. Such humor can influence relationship boundaries and trust. Understanding your partner's intent and feelings behind these jokes is essential for healthy communication and trust building.

Gentlemen of the Man Cave, what do you think about a woman who jokes about infidelity? Not jokes about her cheating; I mean jokes about how you're so good-looking, you have women chasing after you. Or talk about how your "other girlfriends" (read: women who have crushes on you) were happy to see you?

Does it, in an ironic twist, almost encourage you to wander? Does it make you think that your girl is excited, or even okay with the idea that you'll go with another woman, sexually?

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on this.

Is this woman my friend or my SO? Either way compliments like that make me feel weird. In a bad way. If my SO was saying that, i'd ask her to spit it out. Cause you don't joke about that ish for no reason.

She's your girlfriend or wife.

I'd be weirded the fuck out. Also that'd make me think either she wants a threesome or she's insecure AF.

Would you personally be against a threesome, if that turned out to be the case?

It happens alot.

If its just a lady friend, it's just friendly teasing.

If it's a partner, i'm going to be in a lot of trouble because the girl is planting bait for me.

Do you mean like you'd feel she's setting you up?

That sounds like hyperbole to me, an exaggeration not meant to be taken literally. Pretty common when someone is flirting. It's all in good fun, but it's not serious. So no, I wouldn't be temped to wander if I was already dating someone. (I wouldn't wander regardless). I wouldn't think from that innocuous comment that she was hinting at anything more than how handsome I am.

If she said, "You're so strong! I bet you can lit 800 lbs," I wouldn't go and try to lift 800 lbs. I'd understand that she was complimenting me on my efforts in the gym.

That being said, it could be that the woman isn't flirting and making the statement due to low self esteem. I still wouldn't wander in this scenario either.

I used to tease the Gem all the time about his "baby moma". I'd say things like, "tell your baby moma you can't bring her pampers this weekend, your taking me to the beach". It's hilarious cause he is not about that dad life.

I found it funny. But honestly I'll say anything to see those dimples of his.

when we first got married when we were settling into our new schedule together, scorp would tell me every Sunday after lunch that he is going to the gym and he would be gone for like 4 hours (he would run errands also but he just didn't spell everything out). i'd welcome him home with a sweet smile and "how's Amy?" (scorp: "who the f is amy??" lol ) or "how's your other family? they all good and happy?" lol

3some? lmao. there will be blood

My Libra Ex used to do this shit. At first, I took it as a compliment that she thought I was cute enough to be a pussy magnet. As time went on it got annoying and I felt more like she was accusing me of cheating..

At the end of it all, I found that she was insecure and actually did think that I had a side chick. Which was hilarious because it was completely unfounded and I wasn't good enough looking to have a side girl.

i agree that it may not be a good idea to make it a habit joking / saying that he has someone else. it also matters what you do afterwards. my main motivation of saying that at the time was i didn't want to nag him asking him to report his whereabouts every hour but i wanted him to get used to telling me on his own. we were just settling into our new life together and him being a fixed sign, it took a while for him to not behave like he was still single. i'd xoxox him afterwards and sit on his lap to listen to his 4 hour adventure lol

as for complimenting his looks, i do that once a while when i think he looks extraordinarily handsome lol. not everyday so that it does not get old. but tbh, the way i look at him when he walks out of the shower ever morning should say it all lol
