Here in Germany I've got the impression that IKEA is for students. Or young couples who get pregnant in their first years.

Fact is everybody can see your furniture come from IKEA. If you want to show off IKEA is not good for that purpose.
Anyway I love their design. I could walk in an IKEA shop for hours.
Also friendly color combinations they choose.

I have not bought anything from IKEA in more than ten years.
omg we were just in IKEA the other night. that place is so pretty!!! with really beautiful furniture and so affordable too!!

There you have lisabethur8 as my witness. What do you want more? :-)
my husband just got this

but not so fancy swancy. And also mostly in black, not white. He even will build it himself.

you can pay IKEA extra hundreds to set it up and put it up yourself. i forget what surcharges but you can go to the site and find out.

but if your guy can build it and fix it up himself he can SAVE some money.

i guess in the U.S. they think IKEA Is for students and young couples.

over here, if you want to save money and want it NEW, you can find something really good.

My virgo brother in law and sister buys their furniture in the newspaper looking for 2nd hand furniture, that is really expensive normally.

They like "solid" stuff, and IKEA isn't really solid.

so they still look for 2nd hand but the stuff that is really expensive, so it's still half price or discounted on 2nd hand.

In my friends' circle girls can build it too.
I would save my call for a guys's magic for more complex things. For example for my home trainer.
to be honest, very very honest, i can't build that stuff, even furniture. or IKEA wardrobe and do the drilling, ect.

i can't do it. I tried even with the smaller closet types and cried, and had a male relative help years ago.

i'm really weak, and i mean that.

Actually, Ikea kitchens are of very good quality. When I was building my house, I spent a lot of time on a house building forum and even contractors who posted there vouched for the quality of the cabinets. A custom cabinet maker couldn't touch the price of Ikea cabinets for the price.

I have a quite a few pieces from there that I got when I was first starting out, and they're still in gpod shape.

No I like being able to pick-up-and-go every time the government starts closing in on me, so IKEA is ideal. Just leave everything behind.

Being pretentious doesn't cost a thing.

I kid... I can't wait to read the thread.

Thanks. 🙂

It's good for what it is, but most of it isn't made to last multiple moves or anything. Going to the store is an experience for sure tho.
Yep. Great starter furniture. The decor is pretty cool. I go there for the twin sized flat sheets and use them as table cloths and drapings for my parties. I also like the tall multi use glasses for beer, wine, or cocktails. Party stuff is usually what I go there for....oh and lunch. The cafeteria is awesome sauce. Lol

Nope. I borrowed some of my furnishings from an independently wealthy associate. LMBO!!! I also do estate sales and look for dependable labels/fabrics. I'm that person who hears that someone with lots of disposal income is moving or selling a house and I'm like, "Soooooo...about that move..." Don't hate. Lol....I have furnishings that people can't believe I have. The guys who came to custom clean my couch set nearly fell over. I also have a gorgeous upright piano. Didn't pay a cent for it. I followed it's path of some spoiled college kids. Lol....when they grew out of their hipster phase and started going their separate ways into real life, the piano became a burden. I only had to pay the $ 300 moving fee. Cha Ching! The only disclaimer of the independently wealthy guy....just never give it away. You can keep it as long as you want. When it's time to get rid of it, give it back. Pretty much, it's mine.

I always thought their stuff looked cheap, so I have no idea why I've been to one LOL! i remember getting lost, because they're apparently hellbent on making everything a maze
I've heard about that... like you can only go in one direction

Or something weird like that.

o.O
Yes. It was a mess

When you get to the pillow cases and stuff, there is actually a small path you can cut through that saves you like half an hour and leads to the carpet section which is near the exit.

But don't tell anyone, that'll be our secret. lol

Its okay. When I first moved into my apartment I picked up a few inexpensive things from Ikea. Everything in my bathroom is from there as well as end tables in my livingroom. A few more small items, and I was good.
i made my own stuff to make a cabinet (out of crates) to hold the toliet papers and toilettries. so according to others here, that's super duper cheapo.
