When I’m ready for bed I brush my teeth and then waterpik them.

Sometimes I’ll do a lip scrub, sometimes I won’t.

Then I remove my makeup if I wore it that day. Then I wash my face with a basic cleanser. Put toner on a cotton pad, wipe away the remaining dirt on my face in circular motions. Before the toner has time to dry I sometimes put an oil on my face, either tea tree oil or grapefruit/chamomile oil. Once my skin is as dry as it’ll get, I put on a retanol cream. Wait for that to dry. Then I put on under eye cream, and apply a night time moisturizer to the rest of my face and neck.

Then I’ll use mouthwash as the final step. If I did a lip scrub, I’ll put on a lip mask/moisturizer.

The face stuff really helps me feel like I’m going to bed and waking up refreshed. Idk why, maybe I’m just #basic.

You should put the oil on last. I read that creams can't penetrate through it. I used to think it was the other way around since you're suppose to layer thinnest to thickest, but apparently not when it comes to oil.

I used to do that, but then I heard oil can’t penetrate through water-based moisturizers because oil is hydrophobic 🧐

Oh god, which is the truth?

After reading your post I looked it up on reddit to see what other people do and most people mix their oil & moisturizer so now I’m even more confused

But other people said it just depends which product is more occlusive. Some oils are super occlusive, while some moisturizers are super occlusive. Idk what you do if they both have the same occlusivity level though 🤔🤔

What's your good night routine?

To sleep better and wake up refreshed or any special health/wellness/beauty regimens?

Stay away from laptop, iPhone etc./blue light for 1-2 hours before bedtime, and opt to read books instead. Last year, I found the best comfy pillow that even reduces wrinkles and I sleep comfortably like a baby.

These are good. I try to read my books too before bed or listen to meditation music.

Would you mind sharing which pillow brand? I love comfy pillows.

It was designed by an orthopedist and a bit pricey. It's excellent for ppl who are side sleepers and want to prevent their faces from being squished into a regular pillow that causes wrinkles and puffiness.

Thanks. I'll check it out.

this lock-down has helped me find - at least i think - a healthy sleeping pattern. i go to bed anywhere between 11 PM and 1 AM. my last hours of the day are dedicated to reading or drawing. ear plugs in; depending on the mood, nature sounds or classical music. wake up between 7 AM/7.30 and feel good. never been more on time than during this crisis.

i think the weight of mundane life can be very oppressive - it never let´s us shut the fuck up inside.

It does feel oppressive. I'm trying to stay zen but I feel trapped. 😂

Your tips worked. I've been waking up at 4:30am and feel much more productive. Thanks!

I’ve been sleeping really deeply going to sleep between 10pm-1am and waking at 6am. My problem is shaking the sleep off!! Getting up and going! First off, I make myself kind of hop out of bed and throw my hands up into a full body stretch. Sometimes I say something affirming with that. I’ve been making sure to drink a water bottle full of water before my coffee bc I read it isn’t as effective if you go straight to coffee.

For the first time in forever, I’m not really having a problem going to sleep. I’m actually sleepy a lot but I also went through some really hard times with my dental work and infection where my sleep was really thrown off so maybe my body is still adjusting from that. I do find that if I don’t work out that day, I don’t have as restful sleep so I try to at least walk/jog for 30-45 min.

Beauty routine before bed is changing as I’m trying to find products I like that work with my skin. I recently invested in a shower filter so that maybe I can clear up my skin easier. I still have some adult acne which sucks but I’m trying to do better about having a regular routine so it clears up. So far, so good! If I’m really tired, I just brush my teeth and use my mouthwash, then use a tea tree oil face wipe from Shea Moisture. Most nights, I wash my face with a gentle cleanser, use my toner on cotton pad, let that dry completely and then apply my new Differin dark spot correcting serum and let that dry, then my nighttime moisturizer. If I wear makeup, I’m actually using cold cream to remove and cleanse before bed and it does a great job removing it all gently and keeping my skin moisturized.

I think so. The calming music you mentioned really helps.
