Upbringing significantly influences personality development, but astrology provides insights into innate traits. Both factors shape an individual, with environment impacting behavior and astrology offering a perspective on inherent tendencies. The importance varies per person, but neither completely determines personality.

Definitely
Yes
Sun sign can only account for a very small part of a person...
I don’t believe so. 2 people having the same upbringing can react very different to it because of the placements they have.
I will say it is 50/50
Your upbringing is represented by the Ascendant.
Yes. Been saying this from the jump.
idk... to me its like
Astrological blueprint = type of car you have
Upbringing = type of person driving the car
I believe in this thread "upbring" is perhaps "freewill."
When you look at your chart, you ask one question or invedtigate one thing at a time in your mind.
So, you're looking for life progression through the ages...look at it from the ages the houses represent: 1st house ages 0 - 7 and all those aspects.
So you're looking for family relations...look at each member the house represents and those aspects: 1st house is you; 7th spouse in-laws; 10th father; children 5th...
This is the fundamental or starting approach.
Your upbringing is represented by the Ascendant.
But wouldn't your upbringing be HEAVILY INFLUENCED by you family's charts? Since they are the ones who mould you? Children usually dont have a too much of a choice, they're at the mercy of their parent's decisions.

Renowned psychologists and philosophers affirm astrology to include a christian pioneer who is the father of predictive astrology, Horary astrology, William Lily.
For example, the first born, usually carries the sign of the father as the Ascendant (the question is does the man really know who his first born is or true paternity). My father is a Cap, I am a Cap Ascendant. My husband is a Virgo, our 1st born has Virgo Ascendant.
The sign in the 5th house tells a woman the sun of her 1st born. My houses are eclipsed. My fourth house is Taurus, my son is a Taurus.
Everyone knows that the Moon and the condition, sign, etc. tells everything about the relationship with your mother and her influence. The worst of aspects being Moon square Venus.
All of this is known astrology. Alot of people don't know astrology. Worse they have no idea of what they don't know... various levels of intellect or the ability to study.
Astrology will die due to profound ignorance and commercialization. A few will know it well and use it well, privately.

It's actually experiencing a resurgence now with the Millennial generation. Personally, I think it's because belief in Christianity is waning in the US, and humans naturally want to believe in something mystical.

Interesting and perverse, lol... I am a christian and think astrology God's blueprint. And, cannot fathom separating the two. There is a whole section of christian astrology... as I posted here, William Lily created Horary astrology.

Perverse? I know some Christians who are into astrology like you, but I know a lot more people who are into astrology but aren't religious. You're right that most people using it have zero idea how to use it. Apparently, a lot of them are like me and fiddle around with it while not actually believing in it.

By the way, I like that "God's blueprint" metaphor.

Just wanted to add that I am not religious.
very true, i realized that those that have a harder life and have experienced more would have a different way of viewing the world.
Dont forget about genetics too. Those are pretty important. I always felt the human personality consist of 3 things. First are the traits they developed from the influences of people around them. Second are what they were given through their families genetics. Third is how the constellations were mapped out at the exact location and time they were born. So imo the personality is made from influences, genetics, and the energy or placement of the location and the season upon their birth.
I wouldn't say it's MORE important but then your sign is just a tiny component of your natal chart and how it plays with transits and of course the environment. My brother and I are both Aquas with very similar charts but completely different upbringings.
We couldn't be more different in our beliefs but the fundamentals in how we shape those beliefs or our rules so to speak are formed under very similar principles and for that I think we understand each other the most in the family despite the differences.
Kinda like you see threads about How great insert sign is vs the darkside of insert sign. It's the same energy just moulded differently.
