If you want to turn it into something more, just ask him if he is up for it. He will tell you if he is, or not. But from what you are describing, he doesn't want to take it to the next level. I had the reverse happening. I was friends with an Aqua guy and for me it was pure platonic, but he wanted more. And he told me. If he wanted more, he would tell you. If he doesn't tell you he wants more, don't get your hopes up too high. So it's up to you, because you seem to be the one who wants more, not him. Make your boundaries clear though.
