There's this Aquarius guy I've known for five years. We've talked some, and we jam quite a bit together. I've tried having regular conversations with him, but he's always just so hard to talk to, so I just stopped trying because I felt like I was forcing it. We do still have little chats, but otherwise he pretty much acts as if I don't exist most the time.
But I've seen him with other girls and he acts totally different.
A mutual friend of ours (who he knows I talk to all the time) chatted with him on texting, talking about setting up dates. He brought my name up not in a good light, and later i asked him about it n he completely changed the story. My mother thinks he was trying to feel out our friend cuz he's jealous.
I'm a Scorpio and am a little frustrated that I can't read him.
Any help with what I do would be great.

Whatever you do, do NOT try to push him for a date. An aqua will have to do this on his own free will, otherwise he will rebel out of sheer principle.
They will not be pushed. At all.

Why you don't you ask him if you are friends and cool first? Hell, ask him what his deal is and does he have a problem with you cause he said unflattering things about you. Tell him it's the vibe he's giving off and you just don't have time for that kind of drama.

You said he brought your name up but not in a good light. Can you expound on that? What did he say or how did he say it?

I have screenshots of the conversation. Aqua was telling my friend he could set him up with this one girl. My friend said, well she's already taken. Aqua said, well, I would set you up with (insert my name) but I wouldn't do that to anyone. And from what any of his friends know of him, that is entirely out of his nature. I asked him about it through Facebook messenger, and he said he was serious about setting us up and had been referring to the other girl saying I wouldn't do that to anyone (we them up she they already have a boyfriend).
He apologized and said he understood why I had taken it the wrong way. He said he thought I was a nice person and I asked if we could move on from here as friends and he said yes.

If it's in the same sentence, he meant it as written. Now he's backtracking and playing nice because he got called out on it.

My advice, is let it go and build the friendship.

He even told my friend he in no way meant it like that.
Last time I saw him, I let home come to me first with a greeting. I was kind and chatted with him. But that was it.
