Ahhhh. Conformists.

You know what bothers me about them? Everything. No, just kidding. The fact that they HONESTLY DO NOT SEEM ABLE TO EXERCISE THEIR CEREBRUM.

My personal favorite are the conformists that I have labeled "anti-conformity CONFORMISTS". They are the ones who say, "Yeah! Conformity is BAD! Fuck conformity!" and then go act just like the rest of the dumbasses they call friends.

There's this emo douchebag who lives across the hall from me...he's a pathological liar, he contradicts himself with every other sentence, and he seems to think that everyone has something to prove in order to validate themselves, but he can do and say whatever he damn well pleases. I have expressed the extreme dislike I have for him numerous times (in his presence and sans), but two of my roommates just loooove him, and I was pretty sure I knew why. Because he's "hawt". But they wouldn't admit it. Then this girl came over with one of her buddies and was like, "He lives across the hall from you? OMGOMGOMG!!!!" I was like, "yeah, but it's not a big deal, because he's an ass." Her fanTASTIC reply was, "How can you not like him? He's so HAWT." At which point I stared at her as though she had slimey appendages projecting out of her eyeballs. Because he's "hot", this entitles him to act however he pleases. Ohhhh, ok. What the fuck?

I have an idea. Let's all dress in wool and bleat instead of talking. In general, people would look just as intelligent, and that way, we wouldn't have to waste so much energy pretending to be "civilized".

Also, people with martyr complexes, hypocrites, and passive-aggressive individuals. Let's examine these.

Martyr complex - Insist on doing EVERYTHING. But then use it against you, despite the fact that you protested numerous times. Will sometimes attempt to turn others against you because of your thoughtlessness.

Hypocrites - Say things like, "I would do anything for the people I care about," and (this one's a hoot), "Money isn't that important to me," and then claim to have to clip their toenails instead of listening to a problem, or refuse to give you but a quarter, even after redemption is sworn.

Passive-aggressive individuals - Never directly state their displeasure. Will suggest that they are annoyed or aggravated by indirectly complaining, but, ultimately, expect people to read their minds. Give you the stroooong urge to say, "Shut the fuck up and stop bitching; no one cares," just because they don't say anything directly. Sometimes make you want to strangle them because they will never tell you their issue with you, but the rest of the world will know.

I have a question: Why do you think stupid, annoying people exist? And at what point do you think their brain completely switches off?

And it's NOT exactly blind following...although that is a big part of it. I think more accurate would be people who plainly refuse to think for themselves. Not that they CAN'T, just that they won't. Convenience maybe? I don't know. I don't care. They piss me off.

Conformity is subjective...what you may believe is conformity is based opinion your belief in your personal conformity/opinion. What others may believe is non-conformity...is based on their personal conformity/opinion.

How many people must agree on on something for someone to be considered a "conformist"?

I lived like this for a good 2 years...granite I was "popular", but yet unhappy...I got out of the situation, remained distant friends with them...and went to live in the land of the dorks, I was soooo happy there. (I just realized all of them are aquas too.)

I know. And I am getting annoyed with my friends. But, at the same time, I love them, and I am definitely not calling them stupid. Lord knows they are smart in some areas...I just don't understand why they are prone to some of the stupidity I see all the time and that we have even criticized together. It's a very nice theory to surround myself with people I would be more compatible with in the area of...erm...not being an ass, but in my current surroundings, they are hard to find.

I've been to obnoxious parties. Yeah, I like to get wasted (although not too wasted; that's just embarrassing), and, yeah, I like to get high sometimes, but my life doesn't revolve around it. Spending every day plotting to get drunk or smoke a bowl is so lame. Crazy sex with whomever, I say if that's your thing, do it. I dun care. I just think that what most people refer to as "the college life" is overrated and it can kiss my ass.

And no one's gonna believe me because I'm a Leo, but I despise drama. Since nearly everyone's sense of judgment is impaired by some substance or another at any given point, life here basically revolves around pointless drama. Here is an example:

Wheels I think you're fab and keep up the commentaries cos they're really incisive and ...(cringe) entertaining. I mean that you say things in a really witty way and it's a great medium to get people endeared enough by your style to follow up on the points you're making.

I think the whole conformist/non-conformist thing is very much subjective and also we all do it at times. Unless you are continually in a contemplative mode of thought where everything you do is weighed up objectively then you're gonna be falling in with trends and modes of behaviour that you're not even consciously aware of. It's part of the social instinct of the human animal.

Yesss, I know, I know. Well, I think the world would be a better place if people did weigh what they did objectively...at least sometimes. But I guess some just don't have that ability, or maybe they just don't want to be bothered.
