I don't see how an ex can be a friend when you still harbour feelings for her. It's not a friend it's called denial. If you can honestly answer "yes I am just doing this because I do this for all my friends" then you are one amazing guy, better than me.

Now put yourself in her shoes. People can sense desperation, in fact they could might even be able to smell it (just kidding) so let's put a side the stalkerish part, perhaps she finds it endearing but that would just lead you on knowing you have feelings for her.

Then what about being the new girl at work. This very act would've set her up in the most awkward of situations, to an extent people might've already painted her in a certain light for whatever reason. Office politics always apply.

Don't feel bad for a nice gesture, feel bad at the lack of foresight in wanting her back.
