it's a gamble

Firstly the weak, stupid, and compassionate would die first. There's around 70% of humans gone.

One would need balance between savage and comassion. There will be times you have to steal and kill people for possessions. Then a time to help others and further expand your settlement.

Most will find there will be a pull between all humans. You would have the pre apocalypse military and government trying to restore power, but there ways will be ruthless and savage. Then you have rebels. Those who want to be their own power and have little to no rules. Then you have normal people who want to restore balance to if not only their settlement then the whole world.

It will be hard to trust people, and only the most intelligent, savage, and strongest will survive.
