So basically, people with Planets in their 1st houses are like human versions of mythology Gods?

I have a packed 1st and I disagree. first houser's are already labeled as being selfish and self absorbed, why compound that impression?

I'm Sun and Moon and I read once that a Sun-Moon conjunction in the 1st house makes you a narcissist. I was a little offended. I think it just means that my wants and needs are in alignment with the image that I project and that I'm self aware.

Maybe a bit self-centered (selfish) 😄? The term narcissist would be misused here. Those are insecure people with severe emotional defects (think emotionally disabled) who adopt fantasy personalities to deceive others and themselves.
Sun conjuct Moon is wonderful (I have it in the 3rd house)! It's a dream aspect in synastry, that only few acquire, but we have it already in ourselves!

Yes, I like the distinction that you draw there. I enjoy being self-centered (which is neither inherently bad nor evil). As a 1st house type, I feel like it's basically my birth right. I just focus on my own self more so than relationships and friendships. I want to look my best and feel my best. I want to exercise, wear nice clothes and get nice haircuts. I want to enjoy myself.

Sun conjunct MC is about wanting to shine in the public light.
But Sun conjunct Moon places a huge focus on one area, so if it's in the first house (of ego), then that is likely why some think that it's a self-centered placement.
