here's a question...
Need more info...how long you guys been hooking up? Do you guys do stuff together, get food, etc? Also do you guys communicate pretty regularly, and how often do you guys hook up?
Why don't you ask "are you being serious?" when he says that.
He's feeling you out to see where your head is. It's a way to avoid the hurt and embarrassment of rejection. What he said in the beginning was prob true but things change.
Well it gets long an complicated but we've been hooking up since july but had a few months break this sept-dec. we used to talk daily and did a few things together over the summer, but I had to put an end to that because I was starting to feel like I was giving him too much of my time and attention for a FWB. He got all pissed off, hence our little break, but we are back on good terms now. He's mentioned the dating thing both before and after the break...on xmas he asked me to take a trip with him to Montreal...Just not sure what to make if it all anymore...

why ask? if he wants to date, then he will invite you to dinners or other "dating" activity....... or what would be different if you two start dating? Like it would be a more regular thing or that you would be official?
you are already doing things together what would be a difference (I mean, in your eyes, what YOU mean by dating, what would be your expectations or what should change?)

At this point I've already nixed the going out and doing things together because we weren't in a relationship. So I think he knows he wouldn't be able to get away with just asking me to do things like that, without first having a conversation about it...
Fuck them all seriously. All talk no action.

If a crab boy has "jokingly/casually" mentioned on several occasions (4 times and counting) that we should start dating, since we've only been hooking up, should I be taking him more seriously? Even though he said in the beginning that he didn't have feelings for me, and didn't want a girlfriend?
It's just that I'm running out of ways to brush it off each time he says it, and I'm beginning to wonder if he's trying to tell me something...
