I feel like shit. I can't come to terms with how different and difficult I am. I try really hard to be better accepted, but that only makes it easier for people to see how near the surface are my emotions and makes it so much easier and enjoyable to push my buttons, which forces me to run back to my shell and be lonely, all over again.

It's hard with life's little nuisances but I live by this philosophy:
If you can't accept me for who I am, as I am; then kiss my ass. 🙂

A little stressed right now.
I really don't like when guys I don't know just show up out of the blue.

that's a lot of guys.

Well, I wonder if I overreacted. A guy who's clearly interested showed up at my door in the morning as I was sleeping. He came again later and I pretty much said some things that made it clear I DO NOT like popping in.

I hear you on the hug. I hug my loved ones, my kids, my parents and friends but someone said to me once, "you're the anchor that everyone turns to in time of need. Who's your anchor?" Sure, my friends and family, but not 100% and not because they don't want to be, but because I don't let them be that 100% and most of the time they don't know what's going on inside of me.

I really, really wish one day Americans would change their date format from mm/dd/yyyy
to a more logical format, like

dd/mm/yyyy

Why oh why do you put the month first?

Because putting the month first is the more logical way...the day first is just weird 😛

we can always compromise and make it weird for everyone.... 2013/12/15

There's a young woman, probably early 20's, who works at one of my local supermarkets.
She works in the public area, checkout and customer service.

This woman also has half of her face missing... literally.
I don't know if it was an unfortunate accident or a genetic defect of some kind.

She always has a smile for you.
I really admire her.

Had something similar happen.
Some years ago, saw two parents with a teen in tow.
Mother was absolutely gorgeous. Teen was staying close to the parents, clingy.
I was behind them in a checkout, and from one side I could see that the teen had the looks of her mother, and the body was perfect.
Then, said teen turned her head to look at me, and the other side of her face looked like a melted wax figure.
It was this time of year.
Genetic or otherwise, I could see the pain in that girl's face as she looked at me, expecting another look of horror.
It took one simple smile from me.
Her shoulders straightened, and for a moment, a beautiful soul smiled back.
Never knew how her life turned out. I hope she got the help she needed.

I'm still haunted by it.
In this hopeless heart of mine, I'd like to think she seized that moment and built on it.

Reminds me of this guy. His love of life, positive attitude and bright spirit just shine out of him.

I'll tell you what is annoying me on the boards at the moment.
Several people have been using the phrase: "I could care less"

Surely the correct phrase is: "I couldn't care less".
If you could care less it means you care a little bit, right?

Or is it just that Americans and Europeans have a different interpretation of this phrase?

The correct phrase is: "I couldn't care less"

Split up with my girl a few days ago, she hasn't reached out, let me walk out of her life it seems, another girl who I was interested in about a month ago is in town and emailed me today, I'm making no move on her bc I still love my girl though my head is going "hmmm"... just sucks.

Dude, it's only been a few days.
And how long were you dating this girl before you started taking interest in this one only a month ago.
It seems your interests overlap.

I know it's a very short time since you split up with your girl, but there's no harm in catching up with this other woman and take advantage of the current Venus retrograde energies...if you're up to it...
Who knows, it might help you put some things into perspective.
Don't talk about your recent split though, just keep it light n breezy.

Just some food for thought.

Heart is too much bound to my girl. I still love her. It's just odd timing really with the other one showing up. Thanks for the insight.

If your heart is too bound then you need to deal with that and your relationship.
Is your relationship repairable?

CancerontheCusp, do we get picks? And how big of a beard are we talking about? lol

Maybe to the first part.
As to the second part, would it make a difference if I said my friend is a fan of Duck Dynasty?

Well, whatever floats her boat! I'm more of a fan of the 5 day stubble (or 2 day, depending on how fast a guy grows it). Just enough bristle to look manly and slightly unkept without looking like a true beard. Mmmm YUM! But that's just my preference and not all guys can pull off the same facial hair looks.

Yup. I resemble that often.
Just let things go over vacation and was told to keep it.
I'll try it for a while.
