Mental health and Physical health do not go hand and hand because emotions are psychophysical processes that arises spontaneously, rather than through conscious effort, and evokes either a positive or negative psychological response and physical expressions, often involuntary, related to feelings, perceptions or beliefs about elements, objects or relations between them, in reality or in the imagination.

The mind is capable of feeling whatever it wants to feel. If it chooses not to feel pain conflicted by violence then it's not metally present to that person. So mental violence cannot really exist, its all up to the strength of the person's will.
