When he started ignoring me i started doing the same
From last some days he had been checking my status immediately as I put it..
Today he initiated first by saying hi.. I replied a normal hi to him..he asked me how r u? I replied im fine.. then he asked if I had my food.. seems he is initiating conversation..I'm trying to play cool

Cause he has other options.
If someone respects you they will text you back. Thats common sense.
