So anyone else staying home and making dinner for the big day of love? What are you all making? I'm a foodie so I'd love to hear every ones dinner menus!
The bf decided he was in charge of dinner and is thinking we will have a seafood night...crab legs, scallops and shrimp. I am bringing prosciutto wrapped cheese, a beacon cheddar cheese, salami, crackers, garlic stuffed olives, strawberries filled with wipe cream and chocolate to dip them in. He doesn't drink anymore so I am bringing stuff for Shirley temples for him and a bottle of vino for me.
we are in fact staying home and opting for the night out on fri the 13th instead 😈. i haven't even thought about what to cook though. yipes!
it should definitely be something special. if i had the balls to try making beef wellington, i would. alas, no balls.
i might do small plates??_ raw ah?_ truffle crostinis with micro greens roasted beet and goat cheese salad spinach and parm stuffed mushrooms sriracha garlic shrimp
and a couple bottles of le cheap.
bf has a big appetite so i'll probably end up adding a couple more plates.
Oh my goodness all of that sounds delicious! I love the small plate idea...I am defiantly going to keep that in mind for another night. The bf and I both love to cook so we have fun trying out new meals together. Half the fun is being in the kitchen together talking, smooching, and watching him cook!! Ahhh love it. 🙂
You could also do tortellini skewers with a pesto dipping sauce...or maybe a fig wrapped prosciutto with some cheese...or pan seared scallops with some sauce drizzled over them would be good too. Sorry now I'm getting ideas for more plate chooses for you. And I'm getting hungry!
nice. i agree, cooking is fun. cooking alongside your man??_ even better. my bf is admittedly no good at it. so it works out nicely that i enjoy it so much. he does all the cleaning 😛 so we still get to run into each other in the kitchen.
and your ideas sound fantastic. i'm always down for different ideas and i've been wanting to try a tortellini recipe. that might work puurrrrfectly for vday night. seriously think i'm adding that to the menu. grazie! thought of doing a bacon wrap bite and scallops too. i just started the vegetarian diet a few weeks ago though, so i'm trying to back off cooking meats. i cook meat for him still, even if i'm not eating it. it's a good test of my commitment, but i also don't wanna torture myself LOL. i'll prob save those for another small plate night. keep the menu rotation fresh 🙂
I feel like I hit the jackpot with him. 🙂 He is usually pushing me out of the kitchen so he can cook the meal. Or he pours me a glass of wine and tells me to hop up on the counter and look pretty...DONE! hehe He says cooking calms him. Awe that's sweet that your man cleans up...that is a good combo. Yeah I saw your vegi post after I had replied. Try the tortellini one with cheese torts...I saw it on pintrest and it sounded yummy. They put the tortellini's on skewers and then just had a glass cup of pesto to dip them in. I liked the presentation and thought it was a great idea. You could pair it with a fig salad, so you get all the different flavors. 🙂
Cooking meat for your man while you are trying to stay off it is a good test of you commitment and shows your love for him! I was a vegetarian for 10 years back in my youngster years. There are so many options now compared to 25 years ago! Man I just aged myself. :/
These turned out delish! Bf says it might be his new fave. Instead of just cooking the tortellini, i also pan fried them. For the pesto sauce, i added a creamy garlic sauce and a little extra cheese. Had a good zing to it.
