I rarely get a cold or flu but occasionally feel the on start of somethingAs soon as i do, i take the following ~
*1000mg (or more) of Vitamin C daily
*Drink lots of lemon and ginger tea, with added lemon and ginger
*Eat either lots of fresh garlic or take high strength garlic capsules
*Apply neat lavender oil to the throat, neck and chest a few times a day
*I also massage my body with frankincense oil (blended with almond oil) ever day as a preventative
It works!

Good advice! I just take airborne and Echinea sometimes ?
My bet is on - the Vitamin C.
If you're surrounded by people who caught the flu - with 1000 mg you might be able to keep it at distance. If you feel like it's starting to settle in - up the dose to 2000 mg and you might manage to beat it.
I add garlic and oregano oil supplements as well.
Great suggestions guys....thanks!

Peppermint Candy. Especially the ones with real peppermint oil work hell a lot better then cough drops and taste much better too. They also don't give you the runs for eating so many of them.
What helps me instantly is...
Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup with hot pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, and louisiana hot sauce added. I heat it up for like 4 minutes. Then I get a tall glass of orange juice and heat it up for a minute.
Instant knockout. None of my family or friends listen to me though. I haven't taken cold medicine in years.

Peppermint oil is amazing. I put one drop in a glass of water If I get stomach pain and it works quickly. It's also a great pain relief for aches and pains.

I cosign on the Vitamin C, it definitely does work. It helps you get over colds and it also helps prevent them.I love ginger tea as well, I like it with milk (though if you're suffering from congestion then I'd suggest you skip on the milk and any/all diary products for the time being). It's delicious and is a great anti-inflammatory agent amongst many of it's other beneficial health properties.
I find that green tea with honey and lemon works as well, I suggest drinking it whether you have a cold or not for overall good health.
Thanks for the tips.....I never drink dairy milk only almond and goats so will try the ginger in them. I did try cinnamon in warm goats milk and it was lovely

I buy the brach's starlight peppermints because it does have peppermint oil in it. But I'd like to make my own with honey as a sweetener. The ultimate candy for colds.
Most important thing is to get a ton of sleep as soon as you feel it starting. At least for me, if I don't get enough sleep that night, it makes the difference between nipping it in the bud and it taking over full-blown.
