Does anyone have any good remedies to combat flare ups?
Ulcerative Colitis

I don’t know if this helps, but saltine cracker, honey, saltine cracker, honey, saltine cracker, honey. 3 times for uncontrollable bathroom problems
My husband doesn’t want to lose weight either. He is hovering 80kgs for a 6”6 guy. He’s pretty Scrawny. Being on that will bring his weight down which is something he doesn’t want 😓

It slows down your metabolism which for me makes it very hard to lose weight.

I hope he is under medical treatment for his flare up.
Did he tried fecal transplant? He needs a healthier gut microbiome and he's not going to get it when dieting.

I had UC back in 2011. I used a vegan diet, mostly soft Whole Foods like bananas, steam potatoes without skin and some vegetable juicing to allow my body to heal without the use of any meds or surgery. I have only had maybe 3 flare ups at most since 2012. And that only happened when I got really intoxicated from drinking too much liquor or eating too much fried food. The body can heal from this, just need a strategy, patience and a supportive environment.
One of the things I use to do when I felt a flare up coming on was to stop eating and lay down immediately for 1 hour or 2 even if you don’t sleep, resting REALLY Helps . Crack a window to allow some fresh air in the room. My next meal would be steamed Yukon gold or yellow potatoes without the skin. This seemed to always help stop my flare ups or reduce my trips to the bathroom.

Virguy has it and he does not take traditional western medicine for it, like Humira, bc of all of the side effects. He relys on natural medicine and diet. Now that he minds his diet and keeps cannabis in his system, he has not had a bad flare up in over a year. It has severely decreased the amount and severity of his flare ups, and made his day to day living a lot more enjoyable. Mostly, it seems like strains/products high in CBG help him the most, like Gorilla Glue #4. This helps to relax his tummy muscles the most. CBD is a great daily supplement if you do not have access to full spectrum oils. A lot of his is pyschosomatic so the more relaxed he can keep himself, the better. He is also looking into adding Tai Chi to help gently stretch and ease his tummy. Yoga is great for the digestive tract as well, but he isnt very interested.

My husband has a very fast metabolism unfortunately. So just eating that will see him lose a kilo a day. That’s why he’s eating a lot more food to try to keep the weight on. The lowest I’ve ever seen him was 75kg and he was hospitalised due to being underweight.
