A really interesting situation between a gemini man(me) and a libra girl(her)

So, I met this girl about a month and half ago, we started chatting through facebook, although we've met each other beforehand but lost contact due to some s h i t t y mutual friends. Anyway, we hit it right of the bat and everything is going perfectly, we go out on a couple of dates and then she hits me like a brick, saying she's afraid to commit, that I'm being too serious(although from day one we both wished each other good morning and went to bed by saying good night, every day) and that she has some sort of block. We overcome that issue and the following week is amazing as always. Then suddenly, last friday, about 10 days ago, something terrible happened to her, she ran to another town where she studies telling me she needed peace in her life.

Now I am a care-giver by nature and it's difficult for me to "avoid" someone's issues when they occur. I love helping people. My point is, she's been closed off for me, saying she has finals coming(she does but I think it's an excuse). Our conversations have dropped both in quality(drastically) and in quantity(also drastically).

I am not sure whether she's avoiding me or she just needs time to herself. I'm losing my mind and I don't know what to do. Any suggestions on what I should do? I've been giving her a lot of space and I'm trying to be as patient as I can but it's taking a toll on me.

It is commendable that she told you that she wasnt ready.

However, the quality/frequency of the phone calls is worrisome

Usually if they're talking to you less its because they're talking to someone else more.

I'd take a back seat approach. She is a cardinal sign and she will initiate when and if she wants to.
