I am been thinking a lot about life, love, and the past. There is no real point to this thread other than to maybe draw out some stories from other people. I have a lot of good memories and when I thought of this story it made me smile again.

What is the most romantic thing you have ever done?

I had a tight knit group of friends throughout my teens. There were about ten of us who were ALWAYS together. There was a point when a few of us really wanted to make a lasting impression on our girlfriends. We decided to all work together and do some pretty cool stuff that we knew the ladies would never forget. I have always been a sweet guy and knew I'd have to really do something special for that wow factor (one reason it'd be good to be a jerk sometimes, then little stuff would be big...). Anyway, my friends and I got to tossing around ideas and decided that a romantic dinner was just far too cliche. However, we could put a twist on it to make it amazing.

We spent an afternoon setting everything up. That evening I picked up my girlfriend, who had no idea anything was going on. We drove out to an old neighborhood I used to live in, I told her that one of my buddies had found something he wanted to show me. We drove to the back of the neighborhood and I convinced her to come with me into the woods down this path. It opened into a big clearing which we had lit up with candles and a few torches. In the center of the clearing we had set up a table and chairs. I pulled out her seat and she turned red. A couple of my friends were there in suits to be our waiters. One friend played the sax softly. Another brought out the meal we had made. They served us drinks and then they went back up the path a bit leaving just my girlfriend and I. The sax player had gone with them some but was still close enough that the music was just a soft backdrop.

There is no big finish to this story. There was no big proposal or anything. It was not done in celebration of a birthday or anniversary. We stayed there for a while, had dinner, talked, just had a good evening. When we left, my buddies stayed behind to clean everything up and I had to get her home (we were still in high school afterall, she had a kerfew). She just started at me and smiled the whole way home.

Over the next couple days we did similar things for the other guys girlfriends. We had to do them really close to each other because all the girls knew each other and we didn't want them
