haha I do like to think of extremes like that Jahlz! Sorta brings on the whole discussion of whether as humans we're born neutral or is it something deeper. Even Potter himself as a character to an extent Dumbledore they start to blur those lines I suppose.
You should read this book by Paulo Coehlo called 'The Devil and Miss Prym' I highly recommend it!

If the person is not worth your time, cut them loose, why waste efficiency of emotions on such individuals, who can not give a damn in regards to how you think and feel in return. You can do better.

Tell me about it. For once, I would agree with you, life does get slightly more difficult with these 'complications', it exhausted, it demoralizes, it completely messes up one's mind, logic could easily fly out the window and emotions are takes one on a hell hole roller coaster ride. All of this, only exists to make matters worse, to further the mounds of shit that already exists within one's life, the one where we are simply trying to live life realistically, striving to succeed daily, hopefully somewhere along this way we will have gained or worked towards some sort of enlightenment where happiness can be achieved.

I don't believe that people are good or evil. I believe that we are capable of committing evil acts, in result of being corrupted by a want we should not have. Or in result of a want or necessity we should have, but we go a terribly wrong way in achieving our goals. I think I'm going to make a shelf for you on Goodreads, in case you have other books you want to recommend for me.

Once that phase is over, then a concrete relationship has to be built, it reverts back to logic with an occasional slip here and there,

Before I answer your question, I need to preface it with a discussion had on the Virgo forum a few weeks ago...
The topic was along the lines of "Why should we feel?"
(My response)
My EXACT answer is because it defines your world and shapes your reality.
Before I expound, keep in mind that I don't necessarily believe in this emotionless state label dubbed upon us. We may feel apathy towards something but apathy in itself is a manner in which one can feel. But to say I don't feel? I don't believe it.
Now we've all heard the typical philosophical saying of "Perception is Reality". While I find that coming from most people it's just rhetoric, in this discussion I do believe it has some pertinence.
The manner in which one feels completely defines one's perception of the world and how we treat it.
"I'm in a shitty mood today!"
Feeling this way? I would wager your treatment of others may not be the best or you may be rather apathetic.
"My boyfriend is coming over and we'll be having some righteous ass sex tonight."
A mood such as this? I could imagine someone having quite the jump in their step. Perhaps smiling at everything and everyone in anticipation. Things you may be normally apathetic about you may put some effort into such as giving change to a homeless person.
"I can't get my ex out of my head and this song isn't helping"
So you're depressed. Think that may have impact on how you treat yourself and others? Most def.

If how we feel does define our perception of the world and our actions? Then by default, our feelings shape our reality.
Lets take the example of someone that has experienced severe abuse and has had a hard-knock life.
One manner in which said person can feel: "The world's fucked. Think I give a shit about you and your problems? I only give a shit about what's mine and what's coming to me. Fuck the rest of ya'll"
Take the same person but who feels in a completely different way: "God damn, I got dealt a shitty hand but that didn't stop me. I refuse to EVER treat someone the way I've been treated. While my past may be ass, it's up to me to make my future."

It is an utter total waste of time and energy to mull, to wring, to weep tears over nothing when there are a multitude more things one could achieve to rise from the ashes a new. Pain and suffering is a part of life, it is called experience, make a move on it and continue on forward, there may exist a brighter, more exciting future awaiting, or I believe so always. As long as one keeps active, on the move, making plans, pursuing dreams and following goals. A yellow brick road ahead? 🙂

Take a look on our boards, Crab/Stinger/Merfolk respectively...wallowing seems to be the key trait, not entirely agreeable to witness.
It even unnerves myself to see my kind as such, by all means for a day or two but for weeks and months?!

You think it through, others may feel it through, two entirely different methods, neither right nor wrong, and neither better or worse.
Simply different. Besides as long as you are humane enough to 'feel', then I would not worry so.
In regards to the connection, that problem comes more with the lack of communication channels rather than the lack of understanding oneself.

The few people that I have trusted have all betrayed me...and I let it happen. Head in the sand and too trusting.
Dear Feby, you can not possibly beat yourself up over an event which has already passed. Punish yourself not, the betrayal occurred.
Now it is about you, and how you will move on from this experience, how you will be able to use this to your advantage as a lesson.
Take a step back to review what occurred, try to see where you went wrong, where they went wrong.
File all that information away, head up, chin up, stand tall and preserver on.
Drawing the closed case out, when necessary, should it become so in the future.

Another perspective...
Some people, myself for example, don't put much into Facebook interactions. I've had people request a friend add and I didn't see it for a month. Obviously I don't know your lady friend so I can't speak for her. Just offering perspective.
