I had the same body image whether I was a size 3 or I was a size 14. Bad.
But when I became HEALTHY and thin, THAT was a game changer. I realized iy was the food I was eating when I was thin and not (it was the same food during both phases) was what was making me feel like shit.
So I would modify the phrase to "Nothing tastes as good as being healthy feels"

Posted by EvilHareWhat would that balance look like in the media?
I agree and disagree.
No I don't think it's necessarily dangerous.
I don't support fat shaming but I also don't support the blind body positivity that's trendy now.
They can be treated with kindness and respect while still encouraging them to be healthier.

Does skinny feel better than how McDonald's tastes?
Fuck yes.
Does skinny feel better than how a properly grilled ribeye with a side of pork belly mac and cheese and Creme Brulee for dessert tastes?
Fuck no. GTFO.

Posted by MontgomeryIt amazes me how few people consider how weight looks so differently on different body frames.
Everything in the media is an extreme.
Keeping your body at a reasonable weight for
YOUR OWN body type is imperative, but the
bullshit slogans are just that, and typically a
mindf**k, to boot.

Are you in support of the "celebrate your body no matter what" (particularly if your body doesn't conform to society's standard of beautiful, I.e. Skinny) movement? Or do you think that's just as harmful (if not more) than "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels"?
You're jumping to conclusions.
How do you automatically come to the conclusion that that saying causes harm? There's nothing wrong with being skinny. Plenty of people are naturally skinny.
You sound biased and like you want to hear people basically validate your contempt for a harmless phrase that most likely triggers your own insecurities.
That saying is someone's opinion. That's all it is. No one cares when a hefty girl blatantly attacks and puts down thinner body types, but this phrase causes controversy? Bullshit.click to expand

Posted by Deedee86You know, that is actually an EXCELLENT point.
We could have a taste of it and still be skinny. It's the lack of self control that makes us fat.
I just got back from a trip with my cousin, who recently lost 150lbs with diet and exercise. She looks good but still has a ways to go. I realized by day 3 that she will never hit her goal weight unless she has major psychotherapy. i watched her eat anything and everything in sight. Buffets 3 times a day with 5 desserts after each meal followed by a trip to the store for candy bars. A McDonalds large value meal with 2 extra sandwiches to go. Pizza....a massive amount of pizza and it wasn't even good pizza. It's a mental health issue.
I'm a stress binge eater myself so I understand. Luckily I don't get stressed that much and have a fast metabolism or I could easily be overweight.

Posted by Arielle83What is sad is that American culture used to be all about fitness and health. I watch old movies or clips of old leaders, and people were predominantly in shape (even the movie extras.) But it was just so much easier to be in shape because our food source wasn't so poisoned. Then, come the fast food "devolution," and everyone has access to garbage "food."
I don't like fat ppl.
I eat heaps and work my ass off everyday.
Ppl are starving in the world and it pisses me off to see a fat lazy fuck sitting on a bench bytching about the heat when it's only 32.
When it gets to 40 you don't see any fatties out in public.
Or maybe they're in their air conditioned cars cruising the drive through.

Posted by justagirlAnother EXCELLENT point. There IS the stereotype (and I am guilty of it, too) of judging people's health/weight as being entirely their fault. One of my professors is overweight and is a Type 1 diabetic. Her meds contribute to all kinds of hormonal effects that influences her body weight. She says she gets comments from people (who don't know the different between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes) and tell her she has diabetes because she is overweight. *facepalm*Posted by Deedee86It's not always about self control though. Well I'm happy you found a balance that is healthy and works for you. ❤️ But I do believe we are all different with different genes and stuff. I know people who can eat anything, drink loads of hard liquor and not even get a puffy face. I know people who can have a slice of pizza and literally be a pound heavier afterwards on the scale. For me personally, I like to be long and super lean and for me to keep that up I have to eat a certain way.
For some reason my body has no problem staying lean with sugary beverages, ice cream and stuff like that but as soon as I eat a piece of bread or a slice of steak my tummy bloats. Just gotta figure out what works for you and the body you want and go with that imo

Believing that lifting is going to bulk them up too much or make them look "manly".
It actually stops your body from eating away at muscle. That's the last thing you want.

Posted by justagirlPosted by sultrykittyI still struggle with the potatoes.. but it's getting better 🙂Posted by EffervescentActually it doesn't really depend in metabolism. I'm hypothyroid so my metabolism is pretty much shot. I do take meds, but I have to eliminate a good deal of food that people consider "healthy" to keep my body from destroying itself. The right balance of fats, animal protein, and vegetables is all you need.Posted by sultrykittyPosted by EffervescentI eat the burger minus a few things that some people find "important", plus some things that some people find are more fattening, enjoy the burger and still stay thin. No more exercise than walking. It's a doable thing.
I tell people that all the time and agree with it 100% .
What am I gonna do? Eat a burger and enjoy it for 10 mins? Or not eat the burger and enjoy my fierce body and all the clothes that look good on me?
Option 2 plz.
Depends on the metabolism. I already screwed mine up in HS. But to be honest I don't feel like I'm missing out on much. I indulge very rarely and don't even like it much. If you get full before you get a chance to get hungry or get cravings you don't have much of a problem with wanting bread and stuff
Not just for weight but to keep healthy.
I'll occasionally have some potatoes or bread, but it's rare.

Posted by EffervescentI'm the same, but no sugary drinks (I have blood sugar regulation problems which is a new thing since I got sick). I've been able to really cut back on the chips though because they make me feel weird now.Posted by sultrykittyPosted by EffervescentPosted by sultrykittyPosted by EffervescentActually it doesn't really depend in metabolism.
LOL, I was the same way for a lot of years. It eventually catches up with you.
Moderation is good, as long as you can control what's in the food you eat. Processed food is all loaded with sugar, so even if you think you're controlling how much you eat, you aren't.
And this isn't just about weight, it's about health. Lots of skinny people (like Mr Aqua) are actually not healthy at all.
Yeah, processed food is horrid. I like to keep things simple and clean. My only unhealthy habits I guess are chips at times and a lot of like sugary beverages which don't seem to effect me.click to expand

Posted by LillyPetalPosted by MontgomeryIt amazes me how few people consider how weight looks so differently on different body frames.
Everything in the media is an extreme.
Keeping your body at a reasonable weight for
YOUR OWN body type is imperative, but the
bullshit slogans are just that, and typically a
mindf**k, to boot.

Ideally you do the elimination phase for 30-60 days and then reintroduce in a very regimented way. Ultimately you end up with a modified version of the diet which is more like Paleo but restricts foods that you reacted to during the reintro phase.Posted by sultrykittyWhat's AIP?Posted by justagirlI stumbled on an outrageously yummy AIP hash that I've been eating for lunch the last few weeks.
