(Take or Toss)
Findings, published in a recent issue of Psychological Assessment, are based on surveys with more than 2500 people.

The Fifteen Fundamental Human Desires and Values are:

CURIOSITY It killed the cat, but humans can't help themselves.
The desire to learn is just irresistible.

FOOD The desire to eat almost goes without saying.

HONOUR (MORALITY) The desire to behave in accordance with given codes of conduct holds society together.

REJECTION Fear of social rejection regulates our behaviour.
Schizophrenics score low on this one, according to Reiss.

SEX Freud would have put this one at the top of the list.

PHYSICAL EXERCISE People may not know it, but the desire for physical activity is intrinsic.

ORDER Not just Virgos desire a certain degree of organization in daily life.

INDEPENDENCE The desire to make our own decisions.

VENGEANCE Having just decriminalized duelling, Italians will understand the desire to retaliate when offended.

SOCIAL CONTACT The desire to be in the company of others.
Even if it means milling aimlessly round the shopping mall.

FAMILY The desire to spend time with your own family.

SOCIAL PRESTIGE The desire for perceived status and positive attention.

AVERSION SENSATIONS Aversion to pain and anxiety.

CITIZENSHIP Desire for public service and social justice.

POWER The desire to influence people.

Somehow before I had finished typing my "typing" all my messages appeared even though I hadn't finished!!!....is this what you might call a freudian slip!!!! So here goes again.

1. Freud and his sex theories - it's a primordial urge we all have!!
2. Independence - don't dare tell me what to do!!
3. Rejection....I find that almost impossible to handle!!
and a sneaky no. 4. - food - I'm lovin, lovin loving it!!

for me my top three would be...:
1)Curiosity (or creativity... the need to go where no man/woman has ever gone before...)
2)Independence (power of self chaos)
3)TIE: Order(I must be organized)/social contact (ok... I'm a leo... I get lonely)

Ok.... however some of these catagories I would not seperate from the others... For example... I would put family, social prestige, power, and maybe even sex all under social contact.

Aversion sensations tripped me up a bit...just because, I don't want to feel any.

Rejection I don't really care about too much, just because, I figure it's "their loss". lol.

Social Contact and Citizenship also tripped me up, because I would think they're both the same or very similar. I suppose I have within me a greater more pressing need to feel as though I'm part of something, rather than to have to actually be in daily contact (or any contact at all) with those people. Strange...it's sort of like I desire to be a part of a group, a common cause, whatever, but from a distance, so that I'm not *too much* a part of that group.

I like this question... my order of importance:

citizenship
independence
honour
family
food
sex
curiosity (though this one goes with the previous two)
physical exercise
power
social prestige
social contact (i am by nature a social hermit)
vengeance
aversion sensations
rejection (i'm a rebel at heart)

You know.. we need an alternative to a "Sports Bar" type of social gathering. Mebbe.. 7 televisions at low volume, different news channels,etc.. Loose arrangement of tables, chairs.. freedom to get and up and switch places at will. That would open a lot of topics.. Wonder if there's any profit in that? A new type of chain.. (Sigh) I'd probably have to get blanket causality insurance. I've been to "bar complexes" that had 3 very different themes of music going on.. you drifted from one to the other as the mood took you. Something along those lines.

lol... Yes... You have to get a really good cook... And the place needs to have a unique visual atmosphere... Sort of art deco, but not to art deco that it feels foriegn... Comfortable, but bright, fresh, and different...

LOL... that's why these places need to be run by artists...

*sigh*

Sorry, I've been fantasizing about these things for a while... I'd like to find a place like that which would let me hang my paintings on the walls with a price tag next to it... You know... Just to make some off the books sales...

Padded walls.. that's intriguing. I've never seen that anywhere. (I thought actual fabric wallpaper was from another planet.. and I liked it. Just hadn't considered before.) Guess that emphasizes the truth of needing artists to decorate/manage. Ditto cushions. Soft mosh pit? Erhm.. mixing too many themes I am.. Strike. Nice color contrast you mention. I also like the idea of artwork with price tag. In one swoop, you've changed the customers to "clintel" .. very business savy, that. I can imagine the caliber of conversation. "This painting speaks to me".. (ick).. Yeah, I'd stay nearer the kitchen. lol. (Now brace for the Virgo part).. Paintings and drinks and greasy fingers.. Make that.. paintings behind glare~reduction glass. (whoo.. getting expensive..)

I can't say that one either.. Now we need Luz.. and conversational "pits".. without tv, etc. Nooks and crannies?
It sounds to be becoming a double decker. Ok.. I ask a concession to put in a small reading corner.. (magnetic labels with hidden doorway sensors to prevent theft). I so have so little faith in my fellows, man. (Bad Pun.)

You can make them full length... People won't do really bad things behind curtains... It'll be fine.

Yes I do... And I'm going crazy right now because I have a lack of canvass and things to paint upon...

I never got past the charcoal sketchies. How'd you get there? Is it your therapy? Preference of media? Oil? Etc? (I'm clueless in this area.) What's your subject of painting interest? Stills? Scenery? Portrait?

lol... I have a very different painting style ... I like it because I'm a color addict, and nothing can get the bright color mixes like paints... And I use acrylic, because oil's too expensive... It's my form of expression (one of them, I like expression)... Hmmm... But a lot of people find what I paint rather disturbing... It's impressionistic surrealism I guess you can call it... I don't paint reality, I paint what's in my head...
